Why would Sony, who has more players on their own network, allow MS to change a game the PS players already love and play all the time, to require a second authentication and credentials? Particularly one that plugs them into a competitor network (therefore padding there numbers) where they are free to do with the data what they please?

It's still not great that PS players can't play with the rest of Minecraft playerbase, but there decision to say no is fully justified.
