In order to play a Star Fox Zero level in co-op mode, you have to
>start the level in single player mode
>watch a cutscene
>exit the level
>the level now appears on the level select screen
>select the level
>select co-op
>start the level again
For some reason you cannot just start the level in co-op right off the bat, you have to start the level in single player then exit it and restart in co-op. And you have to do this for EVERY SINGLE LEVEL.
How did they fuck up this badly? If they playtested it for 5 minutes they would have realized how ridiculous this is.

I own this game and I assure you it's true. You have to restart every single level to play co-op.
When you beat a level in co-op, the next level starts in single player so you have to exit and restart it.

It's absolutely true. My gf and I played through it co-op and had to do it for every single fucking level.
Game was the shit in co-op though.
