Zones get you more attached to specific places and gives the illusion of a larger town, where rolling log makes everything seem small. Shift in art style emphasizes cuteness and other stylistics, where GCN was focused on comfy little spaces, zen designs, and personal expression. Music was also great. Good dialogue with more distinct villagers. You would be less likely to share constantly new screenshots of GCN online, but you'd have good experiences.

The dulled out grass rather than in your face brightness of the new ones. WW and CF are especially ugly compared to the original and the waterfalls are more like water trinkles now.

After spending a week hacking my original GC town i have found it not only having more enjoyable daily charm as the villagers are better for interacting with, it is also just better and more interesting map wise. The acres that are possible can make every town look unique as fuck.

The rolling pin world in the newer games with the sky looming above you makes the town feel so empty. The music in Wild World and beyond is serviceable, but it's not nearly as catchy as the old stuff. 7PM from New Leaf is a great song but it's also fucking depressing, I don't wanna listen to that when I play Animal Crossing.

A snowy winter night in the original game is one of the greatest atmospheres in a game I've ever experienced, as much as I hate using "comfy" and "cozy" to describe a game, but this is the definition of it.

acnl is great. the gc version is ok but nl by far is superior. first of all the new characters are great. all the systems are perfected. spot pass is really great too because new people give you access to furniture and things. new leaf welcome amiibo is great. i hope they do another free update before they ditch itm i hope the new one lets you transfer your towns so all my villagers memories can carry on in the new game.
