I miss great spritework in games, which did indeeed die more or less with the GBA or some time midway through the DS's lifetime. But that's not going to stop me from enjoying this game. I loved Metroid II but (like NES Metroid) I find it pretty hard to play now. Let's get that atmosphere back.

That's not true, though. One of the many problems with Other M's story is that it's an interquel whose plot has NO EFFECT on the rest of the series. All the characters you meet except two irrelevant ones get killed. Ridley gets revived and then killed. The Metroid Queen gets revived and then killed. The space station gets blown up.

A friend of mine thats on the media and is a big ass fanboy of Metroid, hated Other M and FF, loved AM2R and hated the idea of Mercurystream developing it because he thinks Mirror of Fate is shit says its good. Sakamoto has been involved with every Metroid game except for the Prime series. He is a co-creator of Metroid although credit usually goes to Gunpei Yokoi alone but Yokoi was the producer and was more of a businessman.

I like that because I remember how 2D Metroid and Prime visually looked different from each other. I'm glad that Nintendo finally merged the universes fully together. It's like what Microsoft did to Halo after Bungie left (even though they're still repairing the damages).

It is a fact that the Ice Beam did not work in the original Metroid 2. Fusion does not feature any natural Metroids, so whether it's a retcon or not remains to be seen.

You're right about Melissa, but the whole thing was that they needed a "Mother Brain AI" to control Metroids specifically. Maybe they could have used other means to control the other bioweapons. In any event, all those other bioweapons are mindless monsters including the Zebesians.

I know there's some disconnect between the Prime series independent Space Pirates and the Mother Brain slave Space Pirates, but that didn't come from Other M.

Fair enough. I'll reiterate what I said in other posts though, an inconsistency in how the suit works in Other M -- which conflicts which a detail of Fusion that you only read in an opening title card -- doesn't make Fusion non-canon.

I don't consider that "reading too much" into it when the game explicitly shows Samus summoning the suit that way multiple times. The scene from Zero Mission on the other hand is severely limited-animation sprite art, I'd interpret that far less literally than the scenes in Other M. It's not like they were gonna fully animate her taking the suit off. And then, the whole reason why the stealth section at the end exists was cuz she lost her suit while she was out of it, wasn't it?
