When fanboys have a bad E3. PSX was shit for years until the most recent one where they showed TLOU 2, even though I didn't enjoy the first, that was a high profile you'd only see at E3 in the past. And hosting the Capcom Cup finals allowed them to reveal MvC Infinite as well, even though the hype has gone into the negatives since then.

Seems to me that because E3 is such a big event and so many people watch it and anticipate it that it actually is good for a video game company to reveal their products at e3 than at their own events that might get little to no coverage and only a news headline at most. I mean if you do well at E3, it gives you a lot of good press and really makes your game stand out and potentially get people who would not watch your trailers to actually go and see what games you have ( for example be no fan of EA but still go and watch ea's conference when not because you want to be apart of the e3 ride and thus possibly get convinced to buy a game they have coming up while watching that conference).
