Idk about that, but I always thought it'd be interesting to see a series that started off in 3D get a 2D entry that tried to translate what made that series work to 2D, like how video games in general made the jump from 2D to 3D during the N64/PS1 era.

I think a 2D Doom game would probably just play like a faster version of a NES Mega Man, except the level design would have to factor in Doom's corridor backtracking and keyhunting. Regular levels would probably end up playing a lot like the boss dungeons in Yoshi's Island, if significantly shorter.

I don't see why it wouldn't. The only real issue is, it'd probably take a lot of time to program, model, and animate every 'form' Kirby could take, plus the special move(s) that might come with them. If the roster were small, this wouldn't be such an issue. If it were huge, then that'd be a problem. But then they could get around this by just having Kirby take on forms from his actual games.
