I'd say Apple is a special case since a lot of their customers are the same manchildren that make up the video game industry.
But I see your point, I guess we can't say that video games are the only industry where these people give companies free reign to bend them over and ask for more.
That said, I wouldn't say the software industry is anywhere near as anti-consumer as the video game industry, especially considering the prevalence of open-source software.
