Exactly how? Retarded plot idea aside SO3 was a fairly solid game.

SO4 and 5 were ass but 3 was still decent. Just learn to cancel and the combat will be more fun.

SO3 is the best Star Ocean game, though.

The plot twist only sounds retarded if you get spoiled and haven't even played the game. It's really well executed if you play the game unspoiled.

The plot twist is actually pretty stupid, but it doesn't detract from the game whatsoever and anyone who says it "ruined" the series is overreacting.
