backstory:
jowood (the publisher that published gothic 2 and its addon) was facing an increasingly dire financial situation by the time PB were working on gothic 3, so jowood put crazy pressure on them to release it ASAP, hoping for some money. this resulted in gothic 3 being released in an unfinished state, the game was a mess full of bugs and broken shit, and is generally considered a heavy disappointment compared to the first two games.

PB and jowood then had a major falling out over this, with PB refusing to work with them again. this resulted in PB going off to another publisher (deep silver i think) while the Gothic IP stayed in jowood's posession due to contracts that had been signed earlier.

now jowood was near bankrupt and in desperate need of money, so they hired the absolute cheapest noname dev team they could find, and made them create a new gothic game on a super tight schedule and with a tiny budget. the result was arcania, and it's exactly as bad as expected.

(jowood soon went bankrupt and doesnt exist anymore)

As someone who loved W1, W3 had such an odd disconnect between the art style/lore/'graphics design' (i.e. the environments) and the really bland gameplay/UI. It's like some higher-up decided it needed to be more like Skyrim, so they shoved all this awful radar/quest tracking crap in. So strange in comparison to riding roach down a tiny path on the spine of a huge hill, next to an ocean with a beautiful sunset in the background, swords swaying on your back.

I remember when I played 2h I rolled with the Judge's Staff which was a decent 2h weapon you could buy at one of the merchants.

Then I used a 2h weapon I found in one of the guard towers

And with STR belts and rings getting 35 STR is no challenge at all. I think I didnt even put any LP in STR to wear the judge's staff, I just used all the STR belts and rings I found. Then you can put LP into 2h

Morrowind is one of my absolute favorite games of all time, but I never finished it due to all the fun I had with mods
I liked Gothic 1, but hated the backtracking and generally got bored when I got close to finishing it
I liked Fallout 1, but never finished it (no idea why, I liked the game)
I fucking loved Baldur's Gate, but haven't started 2 yet due to being unsure whether my Kensai will get his shit kicked in

some OST in Gothic 2 are just ok, but some are superior to Morrowind. And there's much more tracks than Morrowind which has like 10 tracks played over and over everywhere

And the soundtrack is hand-picked for different locations in the game so that it fits, instead of just playing randomly everywhere

And of course they are different soundtracks. Morrowind's OST is more cheerful, more "adventurey" while Gothic 2's OST is supposed to be mysterious and be comfy yet at the same time remind you that you're in a dangerous place.

Yeah, that's a really good feature to have. Also TES games have always lacked in atmospheric sound design in my opinion. Morrowind becomes an amazing experience with that sound effect mod which adds like over a thousand of different sounds, all hand placed.

Is Divinity OS worth playing for the single player campaign?
I'm currently playing Divine Divinity, which is pretty good. However, I found Divinity 2 to be incredibly mediocre. And yes, I know the three are utterly different games.

divinity OS is fun. good combat. it's turn based combat, frankly i don't have a problem with realtime with pause.

the campaign is kind of shit. really uninteresting and the tone is a mess. but the level of interactivity available hasn't been seen since the ultima games. that said i didn't even finish the game because i got bored and an rpg with bad boring writing is a cardinal sin.

it's fun with co-op but i couldn't find someone who wanted to play the game without skipping all the dialogue. fucking illiterates
