Why did some levels have a big dot, while others had small dots?
>>380452046
no one knew the other day and no one knows today.
I believe it has to do with the length of the stage. So a bigger dot is a longer stage and a smaller dot is a shorter stage.
Also I'm sure you know this but just in case a red dot means the level has a secret exit.
>>380452046
this made me so nostalgic
they have secret finish that creates a different map route?
im scraping my memory here
>>380452046
Red = multiple exits
Yellow = one exit
Big dots seem to be different paths to beating the game.
>>380452046
It literally says on the game manual and it literally says it on the info block
>>380452994
What does it say?
>>380453102
I... don't remember
>>380452046
Why can't star road be a fun secret find like in this game instead of some shitty post game thing like in the "New" games?
>>380452046
>yfw you find that small hidden island at the top left of the map
>>380453158
Oh yeah the one with the laser powerup?
>>380452046
I don't know if this is a meme or we've reached a point where people don't know about multiple exits in SMW.
>>380453339
thats not what the size of the dots represent
>>380452862
That's what I thought, but that doesn't explain Vanilla Dome 3.
>>380453339
The size of them, not the colour of them.

>mfw I remember the annoying as fuck ice level in Special World
Forget Tubular, Awesome is the real hell.
The browser map scared me
>>380454712
Tubular is easy shit but talk about5 dinosaur coins run
>Think the main screen shows total progression in %
>Stuck at 97%
>Spend months trying to find that extra 3%
So many hours wasted.
When I was a kid I didn't have internet, and I had to discover everything by myself. English isn't my first language too, and I only had one friend that played the game.
I had a weird cartridge that I traded with a friend for another game... It was weird because my cartridge never saved the game, and was lighter than other SMW cartridges - I found that out years latter when I bought other SNES.
So, the problem is, I remember reaching the Bowser some way spawning in the Main Door in some way, but it couldn't be by reaching all castles, I never reached the ghost ship as a kid and I didn't beat the star world without the internet I'm sure of that.
To this day I don't know how I did that. I guess I still have the cartridge, but I don't have the video game any more, and I don't know nobody that has a SNES now.
I guess my rom was modified or pirated. It would explain a lot. I had another cartridge of Rock n Roll Racing and the game was in fact the beta version. I'm from Brazil.
daily reminder that Chocolate_Secret level only has 1 yoshi coin

theres a star-road shortcut to reach bowser early
>>380452046
hm
did anyone else get the secret black yoshi?
It was pretty hard, but totally worth it, haha
>>380456101
Yes, I know, but I was 8-9. Doing the star world is not that easy if you don't know what to do.
>>380454712
Yeah I remember deciding to stream smw on a whim not long ago, just doing all the stages.
Tubular no problem at all, but I actually got stuck on that ice level for a bit.
>>380452046
>tfw finding out star road
>tfw loving blue yoshi at first sight
>tfw next level you discover that blue yoshi can fly with any sort of shells
>tfw using blue Yoshi and the cape on every levels you can
>tfw finding the special world
>tfw tubular is a joke when you take a leap of faith with blue yoshi
>tfw using regular yoshi, making a leap of faith on the bridge level, and then getting blue yoshi through the wings you find there
>tfw the game always had a reward when you actually did a leap of faith

Post the comic
>the big dots really are a mystery
holy shit i thought i was the only one who didn't know. mind is blown
the lore, the fucking lore--incredible.
>>380452862
shouldnt donut plains 1 be big then? or doesnt count because it goes to a star road?
>>380456556
i bet those yoshis have some stinky black eggs, haha
>>380457421
There's 4 of them and randomly placed as well. Maybe there was an idea for them at one stage but never made it past pre-production.
>>380452046
Every time you get to a big dot, you start moving towards the next dot, in a different path(except for the first one).
Bowsers castle is the final big dot and you fight mega bowser if you take this route.
>>380457271
disclaimer, i dont condone racism, im simply posting a comic
>>380452824
not a different route but finishing the special stages turned everything all autumn

I haven't played this game in years and I only now find out that the ghost house on the top left has another exit. Time to emulate this game, I guess
>>380460862
It's just a troll image.
Note how the level dot doesn't even align with the road like it does for other levels.
>>380452046
The guy who drew this 2D background went for style over autism.
Bros. 3 had identical square level spots, probably as a design limitation. World didn't.
The only reason you expect a deeper meaning is because of the secret exits.

>>380464142
there was going to be levels where you were stuck in a cage and flown thru an autoscrolling level by birds. probably with a lot of saws and spikes to dodge
