I know this sounds crazy, but take more inspiration from classic Western fps like doom and quake to an extent. They showed how a fps could have level design that led to exploration based on player skill in movement. Throw in a Metroid world map, different beams for weapons, some atmosphere and you're done

I loved all three Prime games so honestly just more of the good stuff with some tweaks and additions to keep it fresh and make use of the new hardware. Dont go trying to reinvent the wheel for her big return to glory and risk ending up with another sticker star.

But if I had one crazy wish give us Hunters multiplayer mode with all the original hunters plus the ones from Corruption. Hell I bet with the joy cons gyro you could control it just fine with one of them so you could play with a friend wherever. Dont make it the main draw but throw it in as a bonus

I wasn't a big fan of Corruption. Felt like it placed too much emphasis on combat and the level design was kind of lame as a result. It was the only time supertroopers were actually right about the le fps meme. So I guess I'd like a return to the form of 1 and 2.

I think a Hunters-style multiplayer mode would be better suited to a spinoff with gameplay designed specifically for competitive multiplayer. This is just my opinion though.

Prime 4 is probably only months in development. The devs could easily stop getting the feel for making the game but have to work on it because they revealed it resulting in mediocrity. Why can't game companies be like Valve and just announce games when they're 95% ready.

I want more fluid gameplay; I want Samus to control less like a tank and more like fucking Samus.
To that end it would probably be a good idea to implement regular FPS controls.

Speaking of gameplay, I would also like them to experiment more, don't just port over all the shit from the Trilogy, reeskin it and call it a day. For example look for ways to implement the speedbooster, maybe add a melee combat system, etc.

Merely existing could result in mediocrity. We don't know that Nintendo is pushing them to finish it sooner and it's too early to call either way. But considering the progress on Samus Returns I think they're planning to release that sooner than later to keep fans entertained between now and MP4, which would be a good move to give the latter more development time.

You're banking a lot on the gameplay being absolutely superb (which it won't be), because if the narrative doesn't have something going on for it then the entire game is going to be forgettable as shit.
If you spend the whole game scanning and reading all you'll end up thinking is "Why couldn't I play THAT story in THAT setting and not as this suit of armor with this mediocre FPS gameplay in a bunch of drab ruins?" No Man's Sky already exists btw.

The only specific wish I have is for it to have minimal story invasion and be about exploration and sequence breaks. If they want to add "story" they should do it ala dark souls (not like how Prime 1 did it. Stopping to scan things was lame but still better than what the fuck ever you call what I had to experience in Other M) or something and make it generally noninvasive. The game needs to be about exploration, making your character stronger and interesting fights/environments. Nothing else really matters.

And for the record it's not OK. They're barely even characters, and they're reused and repackaged because they're icons from better games. Nintendo is one of the scummiest companies in existence, and all of their IPs would be better under other publishers, Metroid included.

Just stay true to the core principles of Metroid, if it's less linear than Prime 3 that'll already be a major victory for me.
Stuff seems to point to it being made by either an inhouse studio or a spinoff so I'm pretty confident it'll turn out to be an enjoyable game.

Even Sakamoto's Metroid game has the PR people hammer in ISOLATION and shit, I think they're VERY well aware of how much they fucked up with Other M.

Bonus points if it uses some of the other hunters from, uh, Hunters.

Three humble requests:

1. Make it fun to navigate the world, like Super, rather than something that feels like someone's first FPS project. Walking around in Prime is incredibly boring.
2. Sequence breaks. Not "technically there through glitches" like Prime, not "okay here's your fucking sequence break" like Fusion or Zero Mission. I mean I want most if not all of the barriers in the game to be surpassable by someone that has gotten skilled with and knowledgeable of the mechanics.
3. Get rid of all the characters and the galactic federation story bullshit. Metroid isn't Halo or Half-Life, it's universe simply isn't very interesting. Left as much unsaid as possible, fill the world with intrigue but leave it at that. Make it feel like a silent movie.

I am absolutely convinced they'll fail at all three, and they still would have failed even if all the Retro OGs were on board.

Just face it, Nintendo and their subsidiaries are shit at writing, no matter what they're writing, and often times they're not even attempting to write the right stuff. So all you're left with Gameplay, which there are certainly better 2D Platformers/3D First-Person Shooters, and Graphics. I won't even comment on the latter.
