Sony has been desperately trying all generation to find talent that can compete with Nintendo's first party titles, and they just can't fucking do it. Knack has been a behind the scenes disaster, for example, and I'm hearing Monster Hunter World is a massive clusterfuck as well. And don't even get me started on Horizon.

There's a good reason so many games are imitating TLOU... it's the only game Playstation considers to be a true, genuine success.

I think you vastly underestimate just how badly Playstation is managed.

Okay, so imagine that 3DS sells five million units, and PS4 sells five million units. That means we make the same amount of money, right?

Wrong.

3DS would make FAR more money on each unit sold, because Nintendo does this crazy thing called budgeting. And this kind of thing extends to their games as well.

I'm really not exaggerating when I say that the only reason Playstation has made money on the PS4 is due to the paid online, which costs them pretty much nothing to do. They are selling each PS4 at a crazy loss to try and get them into as money homes as possible. Fifty million units sold sounds impressive, but not when you factor in all the extravagant bullshit we had to do to get there.

Management's brilliant business strategy was to stamp out Nintendo entirely last gen and then recoup the losses after they left the industry following Wii U. I can guarantee you that that's not going to happen at this stage.

SotC is alright. It's a remake more or less, not just an upscaled version. Graphics have been remade, models redone, textures etc. Physics engine seems to have been changed as well. It's a classic and considering the old version had horrible framedrops, this is pretty neat. Should it be $60 though? Ehhh. Still a nice reveal though.
Ubisoft will be shit, regardless of how good their trailers look.
Odyssey looked fun and innovative, not that I own a Switch, so Nintendo did seem the most interesting this year.

We blow millions every year to promote games on other platforms. It's honestly one of the most wasteful waste of resources I've ever seen in my life.

I mentioned offhand about how MH: World is having development troubles? Yeah... that's why. Capcom initially came to us wanting a pay out to develop a Monster Hunter game for PS4. Management, sagacious as they are, had the brilliant plan of drafting a contract that specifically forbid a Switch version of the game... but did not even try to push to make it an exclusive title in it's own right.

We spent millions of dollars developing a game only for it to be a multiplat.

Right now the screendoor effect is too strong, and would still be present in 1440p screens as well (though minimal). Even 90fps is not good enough for VR to feel real, you need 120+

For those reasons, PSVR won't be good until the PS5 at the very earliest. And that's if Sony doesn't do another budget headset again. No VR is good right now, Rift just has a slight lead, and Rift 2 will be close to being good but still not good since I doubt they'll go full 4k 120hz.

I don't expect the PS5 or the Xbawks Two until 2021+ honestly, maybe not even until 2022.
Sony and MS kind of shot themselves in the foot with PS4pro and Scorpio. Sure, it lets people jump up in graphical fidelity quite a bit, but all games still have to be made for the inferior Xbone and PS4, which means the games are still held back (especially since the pro is not selling that well).
But if they announce a new console generation any time soon, and it's not much more powerful than PS4pro / scorpio, people that dove into the half gen consoles will feel extremely ripped off.

If you think 60 fps is really a huge improvement over 30 fps you're one of the following

A. A PC player who is upset that the only games he gets are multiplats and shovelware indie games.

B. A Wii U owner who is upset that their game's graphics are 7th generation

I'm not someone who will refuse to play a game for 30 fps, or say that a game can't be good because it's 30fps, but 60 fps is a massive improvement over 30 and I will always choose 60 fps over high quality textures.
