My reasons are different from others so I'll try to be fair. If you're in it just for online and online only it's pretty good, great even. Graphics are good, combat is fluid and has been improved since T6 and TTT2. However it is seriously lacking everywhere else from soundtrack to customisation, modes and character cinematics, the SP content has been gutted and is next to non-existant.

For me personally that's a huge negative when all the other games had content on top of content so I can't be bothered with T7 when I can load up an older game and enjoy it more.

That's where Tekken has been lacking in the past few iterations, sure you might argue and say "well it's a fighting game who cares", the problem with that argument is that it should improve on everything else, you don't make compromises because you will end up with a sever case of SFV, fighting games depend on not only good gameplay but good content and this is why I believe that unless they bring back the glory days of Tekken then good content is necessary, Tekken 3 was marked on the map because A-good gameplay and B- plenty of content.

Except for gameplay (it's damn good in that department) T7 lacks impact, the music, save for a couple of OST's, suck compared to older games (thank god for the Jukebox mode, pretty much all the music is either from TT2 or T5), the same goes for the stages, Tekken in my opinion had the best stage design in the genre and the only good stages that comes to mind is Violet Systems and the G-Force stages, also the stages are smaller too is what I noticed so personally I try to stay away from walled stages and just stick to the infinite ones, but I felt that TT2 did a good job with the wall stages (they were decent in size).

I have no reason to go to the story mode at all, already played the Mishima Saga and nothing memorable about it, the character story was just a disaster, none of the characters had a reason to fight is the impression that I got, it was just silly, T4 was going for a serious, dark setting and it sucks that Tekken became this joke now.

So yeah that's my thought overall on Tekken as a whole, one thing I almost forgot to mention is the input lag on the PS4 version, they really need to fix it asap.

Anyone who's been exposed to more technical, more dynamic fighting games will quickly pass on tekken. Other top fighters, namely Street Fighter, KoF and MK/Injustice have advanced impressively in their latest installments; but the relic that is tekken just can't seem to evolve, furthermore many combos can be done simply by hitting 1-button, and the nearly "instant-kill" rage art moves are just laughably broken. Instead of a supplying a proper fighting engine, matches in T7 seem to rely heavily on "who can get their rage move off first". So many elements of the gameplay don't even require any sort of skill. In my book, slow motion over and over again also gets old very quickly. And in the end, it's more of a novelty or gimmick rather than an actual, thought-out fighting game mechanic. But hey, the casual crowd will be pleased!

If you want something a little more "button-masher-friendly," tekken might be your cup of tea.... Key word, might.

There's overpowered stuff in the meta. I'm not saying ban combos, I'm saying combos that push you from starting position to a wall and do almost your entire life bar as excessive. It creates a bad play experience where a single fuck up often means game. At that point why not just play Marvel and have everyone poke until they infinite combo when someone takes a hit?

Entire story mode was garbage senpai. The gameplay has improved and its nice Tekken is in the spotlight again, but Tekken 5 had the best story mode. I don't care about the Mishimas/Kazamas and their devil gene problems.

Combos are just muscle memory, keep trying them. Just training mode isn't enough either, as you will have stress in actual matches and fuck up too.

Did they fix friend matches yet? Last time I played T7, i tried to invite a friend on PC and we would have lagless matches up until the game randomly desynced after like the third round.

I don't have time to read the whole thread but I seriously hope no one is defending the current level of customization, even if you'd never touched customization before you'd have to be brain dead to not see how terrible it is now, worse I'm not even sure that's something that can be patched.
