The worst part is how this cinematic shit affects the rest of Spider-Man. You're not going to get fun charged jumps because it doesn't fit in with the serious movievlike feel of the game. You're not going to get normal web zips because they're not cool enough but instead get press R1 to awesome zip parkour. If this qte cinematic shit was confined to certain levels it would be a benign cancer but it never fucking is. It always metastises and infects everything and when it's don't killing your game it then spread to other games and you get cinematic bullshit everywhere

You don't go into a VN expecting anything other than to click next. This cinematic qte shit is replacing actual game play. Where once you would have a boss fight you now press buttons like you're in guitar hero. Where a cool cutscene would play after the boss fight the game just continues the qte into the cutscenes leaving you unable to enjoy the spectacle because you're too focused on pressing O at the right time while also not enjoying the game because you're standing around waiting for the game to tell you what button to fucking press. Jarring as fuck.

That whole crane scene in Spider-Man could have been fixed by having a simple fight on the rooftop, then using the environment prop to attack an enemy causing the crane collapse cutscene. The player gets to play and then sit back and enjoy the well made cutscene.

It's the web rush stuff from ASM games. The twirls and all. It's not made for locomotion but rather for stylistic travel which again feeds into the whole need for the game to always look cool.

The main problem ASM webzip had was the transition between cool automated parkour and player control where it always kind of lagged and froze as it slowly handed you back control. Granted I admit we didn't see enough to make a call on how well it's executed but the web zip icon being there at all times like the batman grappling hook plus what we did see leads me to believe it's a bunch of press x to cool parkour here shit.

Every Triple-A garbage Sony has published in recent years is a fucking movie.
But they will be critically and commercially successful anyway because they will impress everyone with their strong violence, edginess and cutscenes, "OMG SO CINEMATIC. SO EMOTIONAL 10/10 GTYO" and not give a single drip of shit about their clunky controls unoptimized gameplay, unskippable walking sections and scripted set-pieces that yank the control away from you.

- God of War (not out until 2018)

A spider-man has so much potential to be a fun game that can sell millions. All it needs is momentum/physics based web slinging with potential for failure if you don't do it properly and potential for great reward with speed acceleration if you do it correctly. After that, the focus should be on the combat and abilities being fun.

Story and cinematics shouldn't matter at all during the design phase of the game.

From Software is extremely reluctant to make exclusives, unless Sony really throws a lot of money at them, like with Bloodborne. They have grown extremely popular across the world on PC, Xbox and PS. They are working on something for the Nintendo Switch, they plan to expand across all platforms and become a multi-platform power house. If Armored Core 6 is the multi-platform and if Armored Core 6 becomes a huge success like Souls, From Software are going to become one of the most dominant companies in gaming and that is one of the best things that can happen.

Regenerating health is fine when done right - when it alone is not nearly enough to make you feel safe during a fight. There should be a constant ebb and flow of you being hurt/suppressed, regenerating your HP while blindfiring/cover-firing or changing locations, and pushing back hard until you are suppressed again but have given yourself some breathing room / better positioning to continue the fight. You should have to intimately know the limits of your regen advantage in order to make the ballsy split-second decisions that allow you to survive and eventually persevere.

That's how multiplayer games with regenerating health are fun at least

I bought a PS4 for Bloodborne and I feel like it was worth the price, it's genuinely one of the best games ever made. As much as I think Sony is fucking up hard in terms of the PS4's game library, there are some other good games for the system, like Yakuza 0, Persona 5, Gravity Rush 2, The Last Guardian and TLOU Remastered.

Nah. The only game to get regenerating health right is Halo. It's fine there because the enemies only use projectile attacks so you can always avoid damage. Regenerating health DOES NOT WORK in games where enemies have regular instant-hit guns, as it basically means you are forced to soak up bullets and then crouch behind a wall, which is the least fun thing imaginable.

Well, QTEs were the worst case scenario. Even telling everyone those moves would just be possible in cutscenes would have been better. Making them into shitty Asura's Wrath sections is the last thing anyone wanted.

I fucking loved Heavy Rain.
I thought TLoU was probably one of the most mediocre experiences ever.

I know exactly where you're coming from, Heavy Rain works because it's sticks to it's design of "click-and-point like" and QTEs being for all actions so you get used to it as the story's pacing builds until it gets to a pretty climactic final act
TLoU was mediocre because it's pacing is all over the place, one minute you're in a high intensity set-piece, another minute your walking painfully slow to your destination and have to do a "puzzle" of finding the object that lets you move forward
