No, AAA gaming is legit shit. Since big budget games have been always heavily marketed, you can really see the quality and quantity of games go down yearly since 2008. There are still some fun games being released in the indy scene, and occasionally in AAA scene.

That E3 is a relic of the past.

I feel like it used to be much, much more relevant in the early 00s. Back then the Internet was still a lot more fractured and coincidentally E3 was a great way to get attention to your new releases. While it still is, to an extent, we can see many big companies just not give a fuck anymore as they announce their shit elsewhere, knowing full well it'll get the same kind of exposure, if not even more.

People will share that shit on social media aka web 2.0 and, because there's no E3 happening, it'll probably even get more attention because it'll be the talk of the day, week, or even month due to nothing much else going on. Meanwhile during E3 people will be discussing lots of other crap showed there as well and it'll, to an extent, be drowned out.

I also feel like E3 has become super centralized to a few big names. I personally do not give a single shit about what EA or Ubishit has to show, and do not even own a current gen console for now. I'll eventually get a PS4 to play the few exclusives I want to play just like the previous gens but what the fuck.

Too much of video game journalism has become controlled by the corporations making the games themselves. Students now decide what's a massive hit before players even have a chance to respond properly to it.
