Yeah, I was so stoked for Ann based on the opening video and the first few hours of the game, but each time I upped the social link I got more and more dissatisfied listening to her crap about modeling and how she was doing it for her friend. I get the sentiment there, but why the fuck would they base every damn event in that link around it? About to get busy in the ferris wheel? Oh that reminds her of Shiho and how she needs to give modeling her all again. BOOO. Same with Ryuji and running, though it wasnt quite as bad.


Also totally unrelated, WTF was with the last few months of the game?! Why the fuck did it essentially jump from christmas eve, to two "relationship" events on christmas and valentines then just jump to the end of the game? It was very anti-climatic. Honestly a bit bummed since beating it the other day.

Same with Makoto, it felt like it was mostly centered around her friend more so than her and then with Ryuji he was almost a completely different character in his confidant than he was for the story which was kind of jarring.
I didn't get very far in Futaba's but I enjoyed Yusuke's and Haru's at least.

Yeah I agree to an extent with Makoto, though at least her arc started with her not having any friends, and you kinda guiding her through making tough descisions involved with Friendship.

I actually didnt do much of Harus social link at all though. I felt like her character was sort of wedged into the story. Wasnt a very natural addition IMO. More than anything it seemed like after that she wasnt really a significant part of the team, and her little remarks in story sequences were just kinda pointless- though that could be the result of both me not getting very far with her s.link, and the fact that other characters had stronger more assertive personalities. Still, she seemed like the weakest, least interesting confidant to me. Her hair is also kinda weird.

When I inevitably replay it in a year or so I'll definitely do everyone's to completion, I was pretty close to doing it my first time thanks to Fortune but I was missing about three I think.

If we're strictly talking the modern Persona games I would say 5 > 4 > 3 mainly because the gameplay and pacing kept improving with each installment but 3 did a lot of things right that most notably not locking character development behind social/confidant links and the ending to 3 is one of the most memorable moments for me just Tartarus and a lot of the social links (although Sun, Hanged Man and Star were all really good) kind of sucked.

It wasn't. She comes way too late and her personality only makes it worse.
I feel like P5 had a very weird pacing in general where things either happened way too fast (Kaneshiro's arc starting almost immediately after Madarame's, everything after Shido) or way too slow or late(Futaba sleeping for 22 days, Haru)

Another thing that 3 is bad at is pacing, the story progresses at a glacial pace with little things happening here and there but it really doesn't pick up until the Hanged Man fight which is in November, 4 and 5 felt way better paced even if there was some lulling in between plot points.
