Man these games were so fun. Why did they have to ruin them.
>>
>>380404104
Yeah it was a huge pain in the ass and almost everyone tapped it, I don't think I ever did any better than 4 stars on it.

There was some kid who showed up in the community later on who was actually autistic and FCed every single song including DLC songs. He was the first person to FC The Devil Went Down to Georgia but the craziest thing is he didn't do any tapping on anything. Pretty much the only person who was FCing songs like this entirely one handed.

Please tell me more. Where did that guy come from?

My friend got like all achievements/trophies for any rhythm games and I remember him bragging about how he could play some songs with only 2 fingers. He even had the global high score on several dlc songs, at least when he showed me his stats.

Intro was cake... Hold green with right hand index. strum first with elbow, 10 mins in practice mode and this is stupidly easy. Best FC's I clocked were cult of personality and cliffs of dover. couldnt have been assed to do the stupid strum heavy songs like that in flames song and number of the beast, i choked far too much on songs like that to not give a damn about them.

Jordan is one of the stupidest songs to pass in the franchise unless you spend hours upon hours actually practicing the solos its all about managing your star power to get through the hardest sections. you don't 'flick' it, you hold on to it. I usually jam my whole thumb down for single notes if there's enough space between the current and next note.

You need to hold it so that you can alt-strum up/down during fast sections. You shouldn't get pain from strumming.

>>
>>380408634
I agree, but both Guitar Hero and Rock Band are mechanically very poor. They have super wide window timing but will fuck you over for extra strumming. That's why people who are the gods of GH or RB when they get to a hammer on section will basically never strum or only strum occasionally, because missing the notes won't kill you as hard as missing the strumming, and trying to correct your timing will just kill you faster. Also the whole multiplier based scoring and health system is super fucked and shitty, it doesn't promote accuracy at all except for pure 100% perfect combo, but for score if you don't hit 100% it's better to make a mistake early because your multiplier will be better than having to build it up later in the song. Western rhythm games in general are kinda shit and only good for being gateways into better rhythm games, but people never make that transition because the only reason people play GH/RB is for pop songs that they know and don't want to play a JP/Korean game with shit they've never heard of before.

What was the last time you tried it? The game received a big update not long ago the cable isn't even required anymore.

People always recommend to mess with your HDTV settings like picking a game mode if it has one or just splitting your guitar signal to the game and an amp and muting your guitar in game.

Or you could try it for free on your iPad.

>Eastern stuff? How is the average American supposed to play let alone get a hold of this stuff?
There are PC sims for all the major Japanese arcade rhythm games and variously priced controller solutions for each

If you let me know the kind of thing you're looking for I can probably point you in the right direction

IIDX is the pinnacle of rhythm games and is the cheapest to get a beginner setup for, but it's also got the hardest climb and highest ceiling of all of them
>>
>>380410821
I meant patches, hacks, whatever that let you use USB or line in, I know because that how I played for a while.
>>
>>380411132
>is the cheapest to get a beginner setup for
motherfucker pop'n minicons exist
>>
>>380411157
I have tried what people post online and cannot for the life of me to get the shit to work at all. At one point I had it accepting it as an input, but it didn't register sound at all.

Sorry anon, I can sing too, along with playing expert on everything. Haven't had the equipment to try out + modes though
>>
>>380411241
USKOCs also exist and cost less than pop'n minicons

>But you bought it for the songs you already knew.

I bought it because everybody else bought it, it was the game to have and everybody was talking about it and you know why else? Because it was FUN and readily available unlike your superior japanese rhythm game with their super strict timing window folded 1000 times.

USKOCs are like $60 and a minicon is $40. Either way DDR exists.

>He is too shit to beat 21 century schizoid man.

At least the game have good amount of exports. Band Hero only worth for Ocean Avenue and Sugar going down and maybe... YMCA.

How are the wii versions? I just realized I could plug my 360 guitar into my PC and emulate half of the series.
>>
>>380412348
I mean, they're uglier.
Otherwise they're functionally the same.
>>
ttfaf was baby shit I beat that on sightread hyperspeed 5 as a bet
>>
>>380412348
Aside some rare frame drops, they are pretty much the same.

Dolphin have some texture issues but the game is 100% playable.

5 has a speial place in my heart because the last setlist in the game is fucking incredible, but I was actually thinking of Warriors of Rock. The passive character bonus was a neat idea aside from the combo saver shit.

>tfw had a drinking game once
>all had to complete a song on expert
>lowest score had to complete the same song on medium
>for every fault they had to drink
>>
>>380412346
This is only easy with pop'n
>>
>>380412774
google "ultimate lunatic rave 2 guide"
you can get song rips from bms.bemaniso.ws

Also check for arcades that have it if you want to play on real controls before buying a controller, if you have a Round 1 near you they all have it and for smaller arcades you can check game lists on the zenius i vanisher arcade locator
>>
>>380407336
Pretty sure It launched with a classic mode
>>
>>380414728
360s and triples will eventually stop working. I think RB could've gain a steady fanbase on PC, too bad they were so greedy.

>2008
>get "optimal" score on a GH3 song i.e. theoretically the highest score you can get using star power as efficiently as humanly possible
>it's still one of those easy optimals so a shitton of people are tied for 1st but it looks nice having it on your scorehero records
>suddenly someone swoops in with a +200 score putting over 40 people at the time into 2nd simultaneously
>no one's matched it in the 8 or so years since it was posted; the 2nd place tie just kept getting bigger
>shitty orange 2nd instead of a nice green 1st on everyone's records for that song
>>
>>380415859
I heard that was a note tracker testing some stuff.
