I recall Fromsoft saying awhile ago they had switch versions running to a level they were happy with but I dont know wtf happened to that.

It's not that bad. It had one major, gamebreaking design flaw (Soul Memory), which only affected PvP. It actually had a ton of good shit going for it, like working covenants and online, a load of rad new features like Powerstancing and Ascetics.

The real reason it gets shat on so much is because Miyazaki didn't make it, so it's automatically bad dude b team lmao xd

In the end, it was better than Dark Souls 3.

To me it always just felt crappy. It felt like a f2p version of Dark Souls and some of the levels looked like they were made in Roblox or some shit.

It's got some problems, some of which outshine the improvements. Just enjoy DS1 for now, get DS2 cheap later and see what you think. For me the bosses, and a lot of the world layout was weak compared to 1, and it's kinda stuck up its own ass about being "hard" when some of it is just tedious. Still, dual wielding is neat, the simplified weapon crafting is nice, and there are some interesting zones. It's not a total waste of time by any stretched, and you may like it better than 1 depending on what you value most from the game.

Soul Memory specifically stops you from enjoying some things for too long though.

If they were selling Bloodborne and and Dark souls on the Switch they would sell them separately because there is no reason not to.
In a series like Dark Souls they should want people to be up to date with the franchise to sell newer games, but with Bloodborne it's the first of it's series.
