"Like a Toys ‘R’ Us flyer from the ’90s, Canadians will soon have to contend with new release games costing $99.99 — at least for Nintendo Switch. Major Canadian retailers Amazon, EB Games and Best Buy have listed two of Nintendo’s most anticipated upcoming games — Pokkén Tournament DX and Super Mario Odyssey — with a MSRP just shy of a hundred dollars.

This price hike follows games creeping up to $79.99 in Canada just two years ago. No other publishers have raised the price of Nintendo Switch pre-orders to the $99.99 as of yet, but that could change upon the announcement of more third-party games for the console at E3 next week.

We reached out to Nintendo for comment, but have not heard back at time of writing."

Nintendo of Canada sets their own prices for the Canadian market. It has nothing to do with the PM.

This also has nothing to do with Nintendo as it's Amazon.ca setting higher placeholder prices just in case NoC decides to price jack a "premium" game so they don't lose loads of cash on biggest selling games in their best sales season later in the year to lowest price guarantees.

You're making a gigantic mistake, I'm telling you right now. Don't do it unless you have a job lines up. Canada is notoriously bad at recognizing foreign education, which means your PhD most likely doesn't mean shit here. by the way, canada bros, go pre order whatever ps4/xbone games you want right now. I don't know if it's an E3 promo or an error or what but red dead 2, spider man, battle front, etc are all $50cad right now, less if you have prime. pre-order now and they retain the price, even if it goes up later. if the game gets last guardian-tier delays or winds up looking like shit, you can cancel the pre order and you don't have to pay a cent until the game pysically ships.

I have a real bad feeling though that there's some caveat or asterisk there though where they just have to technically legalize it by then and it'll take another 4 years to set up shop and enforce the new laws.

I'm a newbee so i'm not deciding the mine plan or anything, that comes (much) later

There's also environmental for soil polution and purification, hydrogeologist for wells, watertable and leaks and civil for finding/selecting road materials, granulat, big project, etc.

>$100 gets you a skeletal DLC support structure platform

Hence why I don't buy games anymore. There's literally no way to justify the price of a new console, games, another controller, online, and then of course DLC, and the new game will last you either five hours for the "cinematic experience" or a weak year until the next installment in the franchise if it's an online multiplayer game at which point the older game dies.

The price of gaming keeps going up, and the value of games as entertainment, challenge, and escape keeps going down, down, down. I'm just not buying games anymore and while there's always going to be a core market of kids and teens spending their parent's money and people with poor value judgment to fuel the industry I can't imagine they're not seeing their bottom lines starting to fall. Maybe I just have too much faith in the average consumer but at some point people must start realizing what a rip-off the gaming industry has become. Every year they move the line an inch, and people say, "Why are you complaining? They only moved the line an inch!" and this goes on until the line is now a mile from where it started.

This isn't unique to Canada, or even particularly worst in Canada. Far as I understand Strayans have been fucked for gaming for a long time as well. But even in America where games are cheapest this holds true.

>Moving to the states is impossible

It's not impossible but it is difficult. First, you need to be trained/educated in something. After that you would need to find a job that is willing to sponsor you a work visa for the states. If you've made it that far, keep finding work after that contract is done.

the problem is that games are becoming exponentially more expensive to produce as technology grows more complex, and yet revenue is growing only incrementally, if that.
Games HAVE to charge for online, microtransact out the ass, season-pass and price-raise to make any money at all, because it takes longer to model one polygon of Big Boss's ass than it took to program all of Super Mario Bros start to finish.

Videogames are headed into a Malthusian catastrophe. Enjoy them while they last.

Games today take longer for a number of reasons that are not related to the actual process of making the game itself.

Good.

In the 00's gaming went from a hobby and games industry to a major media industry, and that has been the cause of it turning into the worst entertainment industry on the planet in terms of how openly they can fuck their consumers and still get money. If any other industry, music, movies, television, comics, etc of entertainment ever tried even the shit the gaming industry was doing ten years ago they would crash in a heartbeat. But gaming is special because it targets kids, teens, and manchildren specifically.

I would love for the gaming major media industry bubble to crash so it's sent back to being a hobby and games industry. I would love that dearly.
>>
>>380399185

Yes, exponentially more complex work and processing has a barely-perceptible effect on the end product. Diminishing returns for exponentially more work, just to keep pace with the rest of the industry and "good graphics as expectation"

This is part of the problem, not a contradiction of it.

He couldn't see my detaching retina with his pen light so they tried to shuffle me off, disregarding my file from my retinologist about my situation.
Argued my way to the head nurse, finished with threatening to sue everyone in the chain because they didn't answer the emergency line over the long weekend, so they allowed me to see the doctor.
Doctor was great, told them to evac me because I clearly knew my situation better than him. They stuck me on an afternoon flight that I had to pay for because I couldn't prove on the spot that I made under the threshold.
Nobody picked me up, I paid my own hotel, got yelled at after my appointment by the driver, shipped on my own dollar again before I got someone who knew what they were looking at.

Lost a third of my FoV due to the delays, have cataracts at 31, cysts forming, etc. All attributed directly to the fuckery in the system.

That's the true master approach now.

As gaming just goes off the fucking rails, the best thing to do is become a flea market gamer living one generation behind the world. I really don't care about the wait, I waited more than ten years for Legacy of the Void because my autism wouldn't allow me to play Star Craft II until I could play the Protoss, Zerg, and Terran campaigns all in one go. I don't give a fuck.

As it stands publishers and devs are never going to get my money anymore. I'm going to get a Nintendo Switch in ten years or so at a flea market for $100 with a library of games with it and it's not going to bother me one bit. I'll have an Xbox One X the next year for a bit more. The only sacrifice is I can't play online games when they're actually alive. Oh well. PC community will be alive but small even ten years later for things like Battlefield 1 when I can afford a PC that can run it at 144fps 4k.

We'll first and foremost, big oil is relentless in raising prices of refined product immediately following an uptick in oil, and slow as fuck to decrease prices when oil goes down. But there is more to it than that, like how all of our gas is refined in the US and shipped back to Canada. That means more exchange rate hi jinx, as well as transportation costs that don't go down with oil prices.

As far as liberals, or any politician for that matter, talking about gas prices, it's almost meaningless. Government doesn't set gas prices and can't really change them. The only part they have control over is the tax involved, which is a flat rate and doesn't change often for good reasons.

Replaced by Mulclair, who doesn't have the charisma, but i can vouch for him on the work ethic, for watching him on the provincial scene he was basically the only good one in the incredibly corrupt Charest mafia (and obviously got fired when he refused to bend the knee to said mafia)

Not to mention that if Energy East gets built, their are talks of more refining capacity on the East coast. >What's it like in Canada, Canadabros?
Expensive
Everything costs a lot, the jobs don't pay a lot, and there aren't many jobs.
I pay $700 for a single room in some dudes house, I pay $150/month for car insurance, about $100/month in gas to get to work and back, my internet bill is $200/month with a 100GB cap because Rogers can do whatever the fuck they want apparently, and I only make $1,400/month

With how much things cost, I'm pretty much living pay cheque to pay cheque and I'm broke after buying food and some cat food/litter every month. Once in a while I can afford a game if I really want it, but then I have to eat really cheap shit all month like oatmeal or potatoes

>You've never worked out of poverty

Actually, I have. I was homeless in my early 20s bruh. Now leading a stable lifestyle, that being said I am trying to get the fuck out because of how expensive it is.

the provincial (ie what matters for our internal growth and direction) is 100% controlled by montreal and the voting block there The jews, lebanese, haitian and ESPECIALLY the italian are 100% in the pocket of the liberuls (or in control of them, in Italians case)So everyone else is stuck fighting for the north and east of the province while the libtards get an easy 50% of the work done from mentally defective non-french minorities.

IF the cards are just right then Quebec solidaire, our bernicucks equivalent will steal just enough shitskin vote to MAYBE let the CAQ go through, but chances are low

He is.
Trudeau talks like his NDP. But he isn't a god King and doesn't even think he is as trump does. He's still but of a very moderate neoliberal party that he is accountable. Throw around socialist like a buzzword and shit on him because he says dumb shit if you want doesn't change anything.
It's like Bush people just fixated on what he said on tv instead of actual policy. The world love's Trudeau because of his personality. You hate him because of his personality. If anything this just shows democracy was a fucking mistake.

Except for the part where we have plenty of other media corps running new shows channels. CTV, Global, etc.

CBC is hardly state media, its news for grandma. Do you even know how much work they'd have to put in to get even half close to that's moniker?

Imagine everything you have in the US, maybe to a slightly less degree in quality but twice as expensive.

It's canada. Have you seen our alcohol and cigarette prices? It will probably be 30 bucks a gram.

Why does everyone love Castro so much anyways? The media here in Canada keeps telling us he was a great leader beloved by his people and brought many good things like free education and healthcare, but everyone I've talked to while I was on vacation over there only had negative things to say about him.

Quebec is fucked because it is socialist.
That is true of every section of it. The fact that Montreal is socially kiberal amd the rest is socon means nothing. You are a socialist shithole too fixated on preserving your meaningless dated language and pretending you have a unique culture to defend. It's worse than abos vying for a dead culture.

And what would your sovereignty sustain itself with? Bad hygiene, Algerian ballsweat, and lung cancer?

You commie faggots started the whole hippy diversity bullshit to compensate for your cultural bankruptcy, and now you're pretending that you're traditional white conservatives.

If you hate Anglos so much, stop taking BC's money for your progressive feminist daycare programs.

Nobody in this goddamn country adores Castro. He's a butcher and a fucking scar on socialism as a concept. Open borders with Cuba the country and keeping friendly relations doesn't mean you adore its dictator.

Can confirm. Finally preordered Mario Odyssey today, and it was around $90 with Prime savings. I've gotten around $70 in every other Switch game, and I slept on getting Odyssey locked down at that price for months.

Nope, without marriage? Not at all, not to these united states of america, all of them went temporarily and had to go back because their applications got declined for obscure reasons. And i'm not talking about poor people or illegals tier migrants, I'm talking millionaires and oligarchs. People who could have a positive impact down the line and want to escape the left hellhole that south america can be.

It does seems america only makes it easy for migrants from the rest of the american continent they feel like they fucked up big time or and want to undermine a regime: Cubans, for example, until a few months ago.
It's funny because when they do that they get all kind of shit and give migrants a bad rep in the rest of the US, the avarage american thinks we're all beaners, after all. Which is not true.

Europe is kind, 'tho. I'd be in Europe for years now, but I didn't want and I don't want now. Many friends migrate with ease to Europe over the years, but a friend of mine migrated to netherlands a month ago and netherlands had a terrorist attack, see why I don't want to? Besides, I can go back to square 0 if something ever happens to the EU.

The funny thing is that Bush intentionally played up his "retardation" compared to his more straight laced rival. The ironic thing is that that was what won him the presidency.

Socialism.
Not even once.

Come on Canada. Please don't let it be as simple as having a red fucking flag. This is a meme. We're about to live in a world where if your flag has red you're commie pieces of shit.
