Yooka Laylee was the Mighty No 9 of mascot platformers. They made no attempt to reinvigorate the genre. They simply created a platformer with nothing to set it apart from what came before. It was uneventful, unoriginal, and poorly designed in all aspects.

A shooter with a heavy emphasis on platforming, or a platformer with a heavy emphasis on shooting, whether it's leaping over gaps or enemy fire. Eiether way, jumping is extremely involved in Ratchet.
