SC was suffering at points, but there are also some great positive moments too. Watching Estelle hug the edge out of not one, but TWO edgelords was a pleasure, even if the second one wasn't completely fixed by the end of the game.

Yeah exactly, aside from FC where defense quartz didn't reduce attack I just gave him septium vein and left his other slot empty because I was using Strike. The only art that is even relevant to him in any way is Clock up EX which the Onyx Gem alone is enough to give him in SC/the 3rd. I usually had someone else cast it anyway because I would use his first turn for Distend.

There's no way Rean can be new Crow. He's the protagonist and focus PC the story always follows. He can't disappear for new Crow to show up.

No I first played them within the last year or so and absolutely loved the series. FC is an extremely slow burn and basically serves as a glorified prologue to set the stage for SC and the rest of the series. FC picks up in the final chapter and comes to an amazing climax and after the cliffhanger ending you will want to jump right into SC immediately.

I saw a lot of "Will you buy Stelle's game" threads a few months if not years ago but I never really wanted to try it until now.

I'm genuinely interested in the series and I just wanted to know if it only appeals to a small niche or if it truly is a good game.
So far I've been enjoying it and my only complain is that I'm 2+ hours in and it feels like it's still the tutorial after the dad left. I'm not actively trying to find shit to talk about the game, I'm just looking for some friendly warnings like when a game is good but it gets better in the sequel and such.

The worldbuilding and development is top tier. People are heavily invested in this for a reason.

So far 7 games comfortably spanning 50+ hours are in this series. If you can appreciate a slow burn with actually amazing late game moments you will enjoy this series. This includes persisting character cameos and an expanding cast every game, combat gets really optimized later on too.

Sky doesn't have it shown numerically, but Crossbell and CS show you the delay which taking any action will cause on the time bar. I don't know about Crossbell, but CS has further manipulations with the turn order: the bell quartz which reduce delay after casting a spell of that element, as in, the one after you get off the spell, not the one between the action of queueing the art and the art going off, that's the cast quartz.

Posted this in another thread but with clock up EX I was able to use luminous divider 8 fucking times before the enemy turn showed up. Even with my normal setup that puts him at around 150SPD he is still able to go anywhere between 4-6 times spamming crafts at around 6-7k damage and 8-9k or higher with crits (20% from strike 2) with many of his turns being back to back. You can completely fucking decimate enemies before they can do much of anything.

Why is zero so boring? It has all of FC's doing fuckall slowly with a few spikes in excitement, but you're stuffed in this small area, threading the same places over and over. I'm at the interlude, and the second half better pick the fuck up.

The amount of voiced dialogue is so miniscule that it's really just preference, but I think that, even if the English cast isn't objectively as good as the Jap one, it's got more character than the Jap cast does. Kiseki was never big-budget, so the Jap cast just sounds like the generic voice cast in every anime you've ever seen. Also the S-Craft lines are better in English by virtue of them not being subbed in either language, so it's better to be able to understand them.

Randy doesn't act like a Jaeger in Zero, sure - but his character still is based on the former jaeger archetype, his mannerisms and personality reflect that, and most importantly he hasn't been a Jaeger for years while Fie was supposedly just plucked out of being a high-profile Jaeger and thrown into Class VII immediately prior to the game. However if Fie actually did anything Jaeger-like or dishonorable or had any real flaws it would upset the "wider audience" Falcom wanted to reach with CS so they played it safe and made a generic loli waifu instead.

Her entire character is focused around a doll/marionette/puppet motif. You find the Doll Knight books in the same chapter of SC that Renne is introduced. She wears a doll-like dress. She controls orbal puppets as her specialty. It's all foreshadowing for the memory door in the 3rd which seems like a bunch of children protecting Renne, when in reality it's just split personalities Renne's mind concocted to cope with the pain. She essentially dissociated herself from her body and controlled it like a puppet while she pretended she was safe in her little paradise.
