I dunno, zero mission is hands down one of the most mechanically sound games in the series; it's a fantastic origin story but if you don't mind the other games feeling a little off go for it.

My first game was fusion out of a disinterest of the series and still thoroughly enjoyed playing super and replay it regularly, for perspective
