I would have loved a Just Cause 2 hook style of aiming at where you want to shoot your webs rather than just QTE.
The problem with games like spiderman is they keep getting dumbed down for the casual audience when us "real gamers" want something to practice at and master.
I kinda liked Far Cry's way of using QTE's to continue a chain kill after you've started one, but anything more than that is just excessive.

Honestly the swinging didn't give me the impression of speed i was looking for. I didn't like how spidey would jump off of objects and just fly 10 times faster than being at full pendulum while swinging by web.

They need to fix their physics so that the momentum is maintained wholly, like in spider-man 2.
However i may be wrong but we will see once the game comes out.

I never got why people praised Spiderman 2 so much. Don't get me wrong, I had fun with it, but the web slinging in 3 was so much better.

Spiderman 2 was mediocre as fuck outside of the swinging. But the swinging was so good it made up for it.

ASM2 did not have good swinging. All the physics in the world don't mean jack shit if you can't build up momentum. It's like a 2D sonic game where he still controls like a sentient marble but can't build up any speed.

this. I don't like qtes, but if it was shown as a really small portion I wouldn't really care. When it's the majority of the video, everything slightly interesting being reduced to a qte, fuck it. I get it's E3 and they have to show something 'impressive' rather than just regular gameplay, but it still leaves a bad taste in my mouth. It's something that, if included in a game at all, I want to be pushed as far back into a mission as possible. Not interrupting every 30 seconds to 'Press X to Spiderman'

You could tell the swinging would suck before he even got off the ground. Compare how far the camera is from spiderman in this and the last two games, then compare it to spiderman 2. The more in depth the swinging is the farther away the camera needs to be for you have maximum control

Combat revolving more about being a ballerina than special attack combos or freeform combat. Webm is basically it, you punch a couple times and them pres the counter button to counter and punch some more until you see someone else you can counter and repeat. Batman had gadgets but you only really ever used the Batarang outside of challenge missions since you never got rewarded for mixing things up at all and it just made fights last longer. With this one the gadgets seem replaced by environmental attacks and web slinging to blind or restrict people.

Personally I don't mind Bamham combat, but I understand why people dislike it. It does make more sense for Spidey than Batman though since Spidey is an agile kind of guy who also has Spider Sense whereas Batman is more burly and about his gadgets and kung fu than dancing around quickly.

One of the main problems people have is that the other Spider-man games have shown you can actually have relatively deep combat mechanics that are still pretty fast to execute. Another thing is that it's seemingly hard to improve on the Batman combat because the combat boils down to just countering to fling yourself around and then attacking a couple of times before doing it again and then using a gadget to let the one guy who can actually stop this ballet of death become open to hits. You'd have to have tons of different enemy types to get you to actually use everything at your disposal but I think companies are worried about information overload and having to keep track of so many enemy types and what they're weak to all at once.

Pretty up there.

He can bench 10 tons, which isn't much compared to say Iron Man or The Thing, but combined with his speed, agility and spider-sense, he's curbstomped a lot of characters signficantly stronger than him. Never trust what you see at E3, trailer looks polished beyond belief and the whole thing is totally scripted and the base game wont look this good. Also cut scene animation was good but again its a cut scene, where you dont get to play other pressing x or triangle at the right time (QTE). Im looking at the gameplay, its a straight clone of the batman arkham series, complete with 6 or 7 enemies who circle around and all wait there turn to attack you one at a time. The combat is weightless, if im spider man i shouldnt have to punch a motherfucker 5 times to beat him. Also the lock on web indicator looks to 2 EZ and its basically acts like the grapple hook from the batman games, wheres my real physics web swinging from spiderman 2 on ps2? A game that got it right like 14 years ago on a way inferior console. Also the stock faceless badguys or the "demons" as he kept saying is so cringy and unoriginal. Wanna reveal a spidermam trailer? Put the fucking green goblin in there or rhino or something we recongize or care about. Maybe im being a little harsh but from what ive seen im not impressed, at all.

i doubt there will be any alt constumes and they'll use the excuse it wont work with certain animations. at least uncharted allows you to play as scuba nate and kiss elena. gta v cut out fatness and body building since they said the fidelity required in an hd game would make to daunting a task. any game after 2012ish is a mistake in my book

I think it looks fine. It was obviously a story mission and I assume the rest of the world is open world. I'll wait and see what the open world part looks like. I don't mind cinematic stuff for the story as long as there's enough other stuff to do.

Saw the demo again being played live by a dev. The demo at the press conference was also live gameplay from what I can tell.

In the demo I saw they did some different combos and shit, looks great if a bit too arkhamish. The helicopter chase was also freeform, the dev went to the around and ran a lil bit, jumping on cars and stuff. Game is still in development, cause there were some minor bugs when going to the ground (cars changed colors).

All in all I can say that this game is in good hands and I'm optimistic for it.
