Their anniversary event just ended, there's nothing interesting happening for OW in at least a month.

I think they'll keep a healthy playerbase making a sale every now and then, a lot of people buy secondary accounts to smurf and to give to their friends/relatives.

It won't be until the expansion is announced that we will know how relevant OW will be for the next 1-2 years compared to the actual new titles.

TF2 never had as big a playerbase as Overwatch and TF2 has sustained it's ~50k playercount for a few years now. Overwatch will obviously die eventually, but blizzard does a good job of keeping their shit alive when it should have died years ago.

The sheer amount of content that it's given the SFM community is a signal that this game, or IP rather, will never die. I have seen literally every female OW character get fucked by just about evwrything at this point and the content just keep rolling out haha, I love it.

Would anyone be interested in a game where you can walk up to Widow/Mercy, hit 'E' to trigger an instance and then fuck her in every way possible (first person pov, mouse controls look, dropdown menu[or maybe scroll wheel] for scene selection? Animations would be done by a talented sfm animator, I'd program through Unity, and world design/lighting by some outsourced indian.
