Samus Returns is going for a totally different approach as a remake. It's using Metroid II as a blueprint for a more combat centric Metroid rather than a Zero Mission/Super Metroid inspired remake trying to stick as close to the original game as possible.

If it's good, I will show my support for it. As it is, Nintendo has taken a step in the right direction, but they gotta follow through. Also, I would like if the game was better than Am2r. I'm not liking the cinematic take-downs, and from the treehouse gameplay, the melee counters made combat trivial. and I didn't hear any mention of difficulty modes. I'm gonna need to see quite a bit of content before I'm convinced that this deserves my money.
