I want to show my theory on how is Kratos alive.

In GoW2 you kill a Phoenix after you kill a kraken.
In the ending of GoW3 there's a drawing of a Phoenix on the floor where Kratos "died".
So maybe, there was a spell or some shit that made Kratos survive. He has a scar on his stomach on the new God of War, so he definetly didn't rose up form his ashes literally.

So that's why I think Kratos is still alive.

I don't mind the cinematic take as long as the game is still filled to the brim by frantic, violent combat. And of this I am worried. The combat shown during e3 didn't look bad, but it did look slower and the focus definitely seems to be on story this time around. If they're going to make a story heavy game based on norse mythology I would much rather have Kratos removed and instead have a norse hero.

I think that son of Kratos is actually from Kratos and Artemis.
Artemis is the only strong greek god that wasn't killed in all of the other games.
Remember that she gave his sword to kratos on the first game and then Artemis and the sword were never shown.
The first gameplay revealed some hunting. Artemis was related with hunting.
I always imagined her helping Kratos after the GoW3 ending.
Even on the Artmis article from Wikipedia you can read: " Some scholars believe that the name, and indeed the goddess herself, was originally pre-Greek."
So maybe Artemis is more than what I'm saying... She might be the key to all of this.

Athena arrives to congratulate Kratos on his victory and requests that he turn over the power he claimed from Pandora's Box, but he reveals that there was nothing inside. Athena claims he is lying, because when the evils of the Titanomachy were first sealed into the box, as a safety measure, she placed into the box the "most powerful weapon in the world", hope, to counter act the evils. She demands Kratos return this power he obtained from the box that rightfully belongs to her, for now that the world is cleansed by chaos, she will rebuild it under her rule with the power of hope. Athena realizes, however, that when Kratos first opened the box to kill Ares, as the evils infected and took hold of the gods of Olympus, especially Zeus, the power of hope infused itself into Kratos. Hope had been buried deep beneath the anger, need for vengeance, and guilt, and when Kratos had finally learned to forgive himself for his past, he had released the power. Athena again demands Kratos give her the power, but Kratos refuses, and impales himself on the Blade of Olympus. Which then, a large ray of blue light releases itself into the sky, giving all mankind the power of Hope. Athena becomes furious, claiming that man will not know what to do with Hope. She removes the sword from Kratos, and departs, telling Kratos how disappointed she is by his actions. He snarls he owes her nothing (a callback to the beginning of the second game).
