Am I the only one who kinda feels Nintendo genuinely loves the Metroid franchise?
Sure, they didn't make a fuss about its anniversary and Metroid didn't get much attention for years ; but the point is in the end Nintendo DID return to Metroid!
And they returned properly: Spin-Off last year, 2.5D next year, Prime somewhere the next two years.
And it's now the second time it happened. After Super Metroid, Metroid was gone, but when it returned we had a real boom: Fusion, Prime Trilogy, Zero Mission, Spin-Offs and Other M.
You may have felt as if Metroid was dead, but maybe this never was true? It was on hiatus for sure, but who can blame Nintendo? Metroid isn't the best selling franchise they got ; but yet they always return to it.
Sorry for all that. I'm a huge Metroid fan and these announcements made me really emotional.
