The gameplay looks pretty decent but I'm not a fan of the counter, the dumb cinematics that play when you enter a room sometimes, or the fact that you have to stay in place to shoot in all directions. Having 2 joysticks would have been ideal (hold L1 to free-shoot, use right stick to aim and R1 to fire, make missles toggleable like Super metroid or map them to R2 or something)

You're understimating how complex Pokemon battle scene is and overestimating the performance impact of M2.

Gamefreak are incredibly retarded 3D programmers, after decades of working with sprites they went full retard with their 3D models and used unoptimized meshes for their Pokemon 3D models, plus the stupid black outline shader AND the weather shaders in the scene. Add move animations on top and you get a complete framerate destroying clusterfuck.

On one hand I like they're trying to expand Samus' skillset after it's been pretty damn static since Metroid II with minor tweaks like Ice Missiles.

On the other hand, area scanning looks super cheap. I know Super had the X-Ray Scope, but at least that didn't outright mark all the hidden rooms in the area on the map.
