At some point the "FGC" has to understand if you don't open these games up to new fans this genre is going to die out.

They've been opening up for years. Look at how easy it is to do a combo in MVC3 compared to MVC2. They've been opening up since 2009. What else do casuals want? How few button presses to do X cool thing does there need to be before they're satisfied?

The answer is never. We should not cater to them. Instead of always running on the best/most expensive new tech, older engines should be used to save costs and fighting games should be re-targeted to the niche group that actually loves and respects the games.

Auto combos are fine because the basic magic series is never a character's most damaging combo. No damage nerf is fine, its okay for bringing in casuals. better players will use better combos

main problems are the presentation. the HUD looks like a mobile game, awful graphics all around, sounds pretty bad as well. doesnt play too badly though

There's been simple mode setting in these games for years. Since the fucking 90's. That's enough for casuals who will never ever go to a fucking tournament. Why ruin it for the people that actually give a shit about the mechanics of the game.

His point still stands, it won't be enough for bad players to beat better players and that's what matters. For the reason he gave and also because fundamentals are more important than combo damage. You should probably realize that if you actually care about fighting games as much as you pretend to.
