If you took away the incredible art design from the first game you're left with an incredibly dull jrpg that did nothing quite right...but it sure looked swell.

Really great game up until the last arc, where the story takes such a nose dive.
It's worth a play though, those first two thirds are a lot of fun.

The gameplay wasn't great. It was kind of like Pokemon in real time except your party members were absolute retards and battles were slow as shit. 2's combat seems pretty good so far but I don't know how I feel about the Pikmin creatures.

The art and the story are the only reason I ended up playing as long as I did.

I hope to god they make some serious combat and character AI changes, or else it'll run into the same problems as plagued the first game. It got to the point where it was a literal slog through the horrible combat just to get some story bits, which were good, but dropped off heavily after you got your companions.
