In other words they seriously believe that would mean he'd be back on Nintendo despite how entirely bullshit it is. If they wanted to see Banjo in a Smash game, then Microsoft should just make a clone like everyone else did, christ they got that indie dev who made Rivals of Aether which is a full blown Melee clone, sop they could just get him to do it.

They aren't competing against each other. Sony and Microsoft compete for the dudebro audience, Nintendo and Sony compete for the week audience, but Nintendo and Xbox don't really intersect.
