Hello, /v/. To make things short and to the point, I can't decide between buying Nier Automata or Persona 5. I can only get one game right now, and I want it to be one of the two. I appreciate a good story, and I know both games have been praised for their plot. The social part of Persona 5 intrigues me a lot but I don't know how much I will get into its turn based combat, since I'm not a traditional JRPG player (I think the only turn based game I played was Monster Girl Quest). Any of you Anons played both? Which one would you recommend? I would like to play both eventually but it's not possible right now.
P.S.: My PS4 controller may be malfunctioning a bit right now. When I run in a certain direction (downwards on the stick) in Souls games it sometimes causes me to walk instead. I hope this doesn't become a problem in any of these two games...

Nier Automata
Played and 100% both. You're getting much more bang for your buck with Persona 5 and I would have to recommend that one. However Nier is a great game and you should get that afterwards pretty much as soon as you're done with P5.

how long is p5? nier:a lasted me 80 hours.

I mean I 100% without buying the achievements in 45 hours so I'm not sure in that case. With that amount of playtime I'm guessing P5 is stepping into 130+ hour territory for you.

100% Nier I meant.

did you just not bother with lv8 chips and ex rank dlc?
>>380257174
Persona 5 and then get Nier cheap on PC.
>>380257174
Just buy whatever you want I guess

probably 40-50 hours

Why would I bother with lvl8 chips when I never even needed them? Even the secret boss was fairly easy. And no I didn't play the DLC. I wanted story DLC and that is not what we got.

Both.

If your controller is spazzing out, go for a turn-based game over an action one. They're both great games.
I liked NieR a lot more and it is my GOTY but Persona 5 is easier to recommend.
They're both great games regardless.
Persona 5 is great value for money (my first playthrough was 94 hours, though it dragged pretty hard by the end).
Nier meanwhile took 42 hours.
Sidenote: I was spoiled on literally everything about Nier prior to release which attentuated its novelty- and despite that I think I enjoyed it more. Your mileage may vary.

I like nier way more but you'll get more hours in persona 5. So more fun but shorter experience or less fun still fun and more length. It's up to you

the dlc deals with plato 1728, who was referenced in some intel in the main game. you also learn about the machine equivalent of yorha operators, the training and maintenance regimens of the machines and them slowly developing emotions and having dreams about the lives of human gestalts. you have to beat the colosseums to gain access to the story content. lv99 emil ain't shit compared to ex rank flooded city arena - every hit is an instant kill without maxed def and hp or cheesing it with berserk letting you tank one hit no matter what.
Thanks for the opinions and recommendations, Anons.

Literally flip a coin.
Both are 10/10 and recommending just one hurts me too much.

Do you wanna play an action game? Or do you wanna play a JRPG?
That's the main question you gotta ask yourself. You can tell me the latest Forza is the best shit ever but like, I don't play caaahhrs games.

>I'm not a traditional JRPG player
Err... yeah just go with Nier:automata. I have both and love both. You would get more hours out of persona for sure but with the risk of not liking jrpgs or turn based, I'd say nier is a safer bet.
Both are great but i would say that you will lose any will to play games for a while after beating Automata as it's an amazing feels ride.

why you calling it an action game when it's created by japs? While it has rpg elements with cuhrayzee combat mechanics? I don't see the logic in these posts..

100 hours for a first run
