I actually don't really want them to retread the flow of the original game of cutscene - platforming - escape - cutscene - platforming - escape and so on. It kinda worked there, but they could do much more with the new game, here are a few things that could be adjusted:
Make combat a little more involved, rather than have enemies just being mobile hazards.
Make collectibles and upgrades more interesting and important to find, after a point there is literally no incentive to discover new secrets when it's going to be just another spirit container.
And I guess just make the game world bigger and more full of stuff to do, after Hollow Knight I've readjusted my expectations of the depth you can extract from a game like this. The first game was a too short and too focused on the core adventure, and did too much hand-holding.

That's pretty much everything I'm hoping for as well, and if the lead dev is to be believed, it won't just be a typical vidya sequel (i.e. the same game AGAIN, but a bit bigger and more refined)

I'm not yet allowed to talk about a lot of the things we're doing with Will of the Wisps, but rest assured that we definitely listen. We made the Definitive Edition of Blind Forest cause some of you raised your voice, so this time it's really about blowing the gates wide open and welcoming everyone back into the Ori universe with a huge bang. If you even have the slightest inkling of an interest in Platformers, Metroidvanias or 2d games... I think we got you covered with Will of the Wisps

I wouldn't worry too much. Will of the Wisps isn't just a visual upgrade, far from it. The idea is that Will of the Wisps should be to Blind Forest what Super Mario Bros 3 was to the original Super Mario Bros

I'm already content. I'm sitting here playing one of my new favourite games, and it only came out a short while ago. The sequel to a game that really isn't as good as its competition just isn't important to me.

Tbh, E3 in general isn't important to me. All the autistic shit is gonna keep on trucking no matter what the big boys do, so long as they don't die.

It's great. One of the best metroidvanias in years. The story's cool, but it imitates the Dark Souls OH WHAT COULD IT MEAN (everything is dooom~) style ham-fistedly.

But please, for the love of God, check out Rain World too. It's a better game, and it did worse, so now I'm sad and butthurt.

Huh? You can compare things which are doing different things. In this case, Rain World does its thing better than Hollow Knight does its own thing. Further, the fact that Rain World refuses to abide by genre is something that makes it better than Hollow Knight imo.
