The gameplay in the xbox trailer looked shit, but I had a look while I was skipping through the ubisoft conference. The scripted sequence they showed at microsoft conference didn't look too good, but watching the full live demo playthrough after the ubisoft conference i have to say it cautiously optimistic. I guess this is the make or break point for a lot of people, personally i've never had a problem with a loot system. I actually enjoy loot systems, well i enjoy it in a hack and slash fantasy type game anyway, it feels out of place when people put in in a sci fi type game like destiny and shit, i don't like that, but if it's a fantasy game with medieval type weaponry like swords, bows, shields, magic, daggers, etc, then i enjoy it. It makes a game more fun for me to kill a pack of enemies and get an uncommon green sword drop which is way stronger than what i was using. Then later you start getting epic, usually purple weapons and depending on the game legendaries may exist. It's just fun because higher quality gear is usually better looking to so you're in some shitty outfit then you get a rare chest drop and it looks dope as fuck. I enjoy that.

It doesn't seem to really fit an assassin's creed game, but people complain the games are boring and the same thing over and over anyway so it seems like origins is being actually different. Has a loot system and a different combat system (dark souls rip off it seems), you can't just assassinate people anymore unless they're below you in levels so it feels like a different game now, and this new type of game it is a loot system fits in my opinion.

they had one half-decent game with 2, and some good and innovative ship battle stuff in otherwise crap games, what could be "back"?

I think the thing that really made this series shine when it first came out was its freerunning mechanic, but now that there are so many games that have taken influence from the genre and it's mechanic over the past decade, there isn't really anything special about the series anymore.

For what purpose? Unity was worse off for having co-op multiplayer than if it was just all singleplayer. Skull and Bones is the AC4 standalone pirate simulator that /v/ has been wanting for years, and it's practically already ruined because it's multiplayer. That co-op prison game that was showcased at the microsoft conference is 100% guaranteed to be an absolute nightmare to try and play unless it's with a friend you actually know and only played with a friend like that.

Multiplayer being forced into singleplayer games always downgrades the game and the experience, it's just dumb and doesn't work. The only way multiplayer works in a singleplayer game is if it's a completely separate thing like they did with brotherhood, like mass effect 3 did.

It was fun as fuck playing shit like gauntlet dark legacy with your sibling or friend during a sleep over.
