Most of them are completely flat characters, undergo no development or character arc, and exist entirely because they can't be arsed giving the WoL more animations than *unsheathes* and *nods respectively towards you*. I don't think anyone ever presented him as amazing, just an interesting addition to Ilberd's loyalists in the Crystal Braves, given that Ilberd has to have known what got him thrown out of the Woodwailers in the first place, and that he clearly knows he's on the wrong side in Baelsar's Wall.

Really, I think there's a lot that could be done with most of the remainder of the Crystal Braves, but I doubt they'll ever get any real attention paid to them, while the main Scions will get the limelight and be terrible as always.

There's also Arenvald, half-Garlean half-Ala Mhigan, I am like 100% sure he will not even be mentioned in Stormblood despite this being the only time he could possibly be relevant rather than a footnote.

The PvE in BDO basically doesn't exist. The game was entirely built around PvP. Its also pay to win.

Can't say anything objective about ff14 though since I prefer it. The presentation is spot on in pretty much every aspect but it can feel a bit small.

BDO is grindy, but the grind is alright because all classes do lots of aoe and most enemies come in large packs and are squishy. Still, it's a lot of grind. It's also actually a single player game with other players running around, but you never have to interact with anyone unless you want to pvp.

FFXIV is not as grindy unless you really want to level all classes and/or want to obtain one or more relic/anima weapons. It's more consistent about being an mmo, though.
