You'd think so, but people change the definition up all the time. Sometimes it's Katana wielders, other times it's anything related to blood and sometimes it's simply violent stuff. We also barely know anything about the game beyond generic descriptions and visuals.

Soul Sacrifice has you devouring people's souls and storing them in your right arm, which gradually twists your mind and body to grotesque forms. Plus a whole lot of other themes and visuals you could consider edgy. Of course SS plays out as a touching tale of best buddies and waifus, but that's the point I was making.

It still ain't perfect, not all moves stagger enemies(the part where he hits the enemy with Stinger-like move for example) but it's definetly an improvement, I get that not all hits should probably stagger enemies so they aren't in constant stunlock but I'm still iffy about this

It's probably similar to how poise works in DaS. Where some hits can break poise in one hit while others require you to hit them a couple more.

If the enemies flinched with every hit, it would make everything a cakewalk.

Check out The Surge if you actually want a somewhat decent Souls clone, at least after the patch. It also does some very amazing things other developers are too dumb for sadly (holding button pressed to wear full armor when choosing armor part, can just skip to the highest crafting levels if you already have the materials and don't have to grind low level shit, can see all weapon informations and upgrade informations any time, loot is actually reasonable and reliable, augments are fun unlike boring Souls rings).

The scores it got showed for me that reviewers really are just braindead pigs considering the scores shit like Souls 2 got.
