WHAT IF WE ALL STARTED MAKING OUR OWN GAMES AND MADE OUR OWN INDUSTRY!
I have been thinking about creating an rts game based on the hyperwar. Won't have time this year because of college, but I will try something after graduation.

>MADE OUR OWN INDUSTRY!
What should it be called?

The only games /v/ ever made were autismcraft and a PowerPoint presentation with cripples.

I'm in. I've got the Beat Em Up ready and lined up.
/v/ is over flooded with people that want to sit around and be "idea guys". Very few here are qualified to put in the work or even know how.
That would require you to do more than just whine on a chinese cartoon image board about sjws and nu-male cucks ruining the industry.
I have my own ideas for videogames, rate them
>Game's called Urban legend. You control a entity (can be humanoid, from another dimension, beast, paranormal, etc) with diferent pros and cons and your job is to terrorize a city and be feared. beast powers, places to live, diet, angry people trying to kill you, people with different mindset and other stuff. Level up your creatur and unlock more aspects, better stats and stuff. 3rd person game.
>A stealth action game, about a spy from a communist government trying destroy capitalism, with also having seconds thoughts about serving his own country. Gameplay based on Splinter Cell chaos theory, with improvements and more content, of course.

Indie games are already a thing, OP.
>>380210578
NO, THIS IS NEW
THIS WILL BE LIKE INDIE GAMES #2
>>380210839
what's the difference?
we'd become what we hate

I'm too busy as a writer to also learn coding.
But if you wanna hire me as a writer I'm all for it

Less walking simulators.

I'm already hired as a writer for a video game studio.
Start by making a publishing company with actual balls.

lol i fucking drew that pepe

publishers are a mistake, in INDIE GAMES #2 we will not have publishers or writers.

Lets just ship in some Koreans. They work for peanuts.
>>380211845it's one of my favorites :3

Games do not get released. They only get leaked.

>Koreans
Wouldn't Poles and Russians be cheaper instead?
>>380212247
That would require some kind of humane working conditions. Koreans will work themselves to death without being asked.
>>380208624
making games is hard
how about instead of making a group of people that want to make games you make your own game first then find other people who have also made a game and then make a 2nd game with them
>>380212247
We should claim Factorio as /ourguys/. No writer, no publisher, no SJW. They qualify as INDIE GAMES #2
Let's do it friendos
>>380212917
go download GameMaker and start using it

>That would require some kind of humane working conditions.

Yeah but, you would have to constantly import a new Korean when another jumps off the roof. Installing some fans and water fountains that shoot out cheap vodka would be much cheaper than buying 4 plane tickets monthly.

Fair number of people who post here are indie devs. And not just faggots who claim to be indie devs, but actually make a living doing games or game-related work. I do freelance 2D game art and have worked on a number of indie game projects. I'm sure other posters here are in somewhat similar positions. I've talked to plenty of anons here throughout the years who are programmers.
Organization isn't our strong suit, though. We've tried, again and again, to get something going. Rarely, if ever, takes off. Proper organization requires namefaggotry, which leads to drama and failure, especially since money will be involved.
Would love to see more right-leaning (or at least non-pozzed) indie games though. Can't be the only guy working on one, but it's the kind of thing that takes a long time and can only work on it between jobs.

Ayo I've been wondering, how difficult is gnu/linux/whatever to use really? I mean aside from having no games and supposedly being difficult to use it appears to be superior to windows, and aside from having games I'm getting real tired of windows 7 and the fact that another decent windows will never even be made. I'm going to start making game soon and I was thinking it might be best to finally make the switch and develop it to run on linux, assuming I don't have to code an engine from the ground up just to make a linux game. I'd be willing to settle for a 3d framework if nothing more convenient exists.

you need to know a lot to run a Linux system well. Anyone can install Ubuntu with GNOME and get some wannabe Windows experience.
Linux is about taking advantage of the flexibility which you don't get with an out of the box installation. It's a skill, and if you're really good at that skill it can make sense to run Linux as a desktop.
I don't advocate pleb windows users to just use Linux because some meme shit.

WE
WILL
FUCKING
LEARN
We are just going to have to SHADE TREE these games, because damned if the free market is going to do jack shit. As we clearly saw.
I'm already learning how to sequence music. Slowly. Very slowly.

oh as as for the part about coding on Linux vs Windows is that in Windows you might want to use Visual Studio (like if C++). You'd need to use g++/clang and gdb for a debugger.
Lots of libraries are cross-platform, stuff like unity/unreal/gamemaker compile directly to it. If you wanted to make your own game engine you should probably use LibSDL2 as a crossplatform library for your low-level hardware stuff. Going even lighter weight than LibSDL2 you can use GLFW for basic OS-level stuff and code directly to OpenGL for graphics.
I do advocate all programmers try to be crossplatform, supporting Linux going into the future should be an important thing for the health of the ecosystem as a whole.
>>380214452
_additionally_ you can use mingw64 to get a Linux-like g++ installation, and you can also write CMake files to generate Makefiles based depending on platform. CMake will allow you to use the Visual Studio compiler if you prefer.

Another dev here. I have conservative views, but I never let it leak into my work. Hell, I personally think involving politics in my work takes away from how enjoyable it is. A lot of people who play video games use them as a way to escape from reality, and that's what a lot of these social justice types seem to forget when they barge into the scene.
Pic related was another person who I was working with for a while, and they were your typical neon haired liberal.
