Unlock all the character's ultimate weapons, max out the items.

Back in the PS2 days it was also very feasible to max out all of the characters, these days the grind is too insane.

This. However, 100%ing the games tends to vary between installments, and especially in spinoffs.

I wish dodging wasn't so rare of a mechanic in this series. It can be really useful at times.

4 Just wait at the main gate until Diao Chan dies
5 You then have to face almost every hero in the game solo plus a berserk Lu Bu
6 Guan Yu will also be in berserk mode
7 You can't let anyone through or they will promptly wreck Dong Zhuo and you will lose

Yeah I feel the same way. Oddly it didn't bother me at all in Dragon Quest Heroes but it feels wrong in game feature DW/SW characters.

You kinda pick up what happens as you play through. Plus there's a wiki you can read now. The book is really fucking dense. So don't feel bad about not reading it.
