What the fuck man, honestly did not expect this at all. Sony almost always wins and knocks it out of the park, but this year it was just pure garbage while at least microsoft showed up like 20 different games, a lot of them not good but a variety at least with a few decent ones. Ubisoft has skull and bones which is almost exactly what a lot of /v/ has always wanted, AC4 pirate play without the assassin stuff. Shame about the online part kind of ruining it but who knows maybe it'll not be a problem. Farcry looks okay, AC origins actually looks pretty fun if you watch the full demo gameplay and not that scripted showcase sequence at the microsoft conference.

At least they showed the games that have an actual date of release (even if it's tentative).

But man, it says a lot about the western gaming industry that 90% of the trailers shown at this E3 are either for action games or shooters.

The only action game that kinda caught my interest on this conference was Spiderman, but with that lengthy quicktime-event sequence I don't even know what to expect.

Spiderman looked kind of good until it became a QTE fest. If all the crazy stuff is QTEs then whats the point. Arkham games never did QTEs aside from I think Origins, and they were able to capture the feel of Batman. With Spidey it looks like they were halfway there until they decided to automate the rest.

My honest opinion as someone not part of the /v/ hivemind. It was incredibly disappointing. Massively disappointing.

I'm not even big on Monster Hunter, but it looks better than the 3DS games I have. Shadow looks really neat. Spider Man looked good, it is the best looking one in like a decade. "wah qte" ok. God of War and Uncharted don't look bad at all, but I already knew them. That hillbilly zombie game looked cool. Overall it is the best E3 so far by miles, but the potential was so fucking wasted. No DMC, no Final Fantasy. How can you mention Persona 5 and not show anything even close to that caliber?

The only thing I got excited for like a little girl was KH3. I think KH3 just shit all over everything and it wasn't at E3.

Fucking MICROSOFT showed Code Vein and it looked great, meanwhile all we've got was a minute or so of NNK2 when it was already revealed last year and isn't even that big of a deal, also that MonHun that looked a bit westernized at first sight.

I'm so underwhelmed.

I hate that they kept trying to hype it up with "we're gonna have Japanese games! We're gonna bring Japanese games back to consoles" and we got, what? A Monster Hunter spinoff that's gonna be gutted in a misguided attempt to try to push the franchise in the west?

Then we got a bunch of franchises that are gonna be rife with pseudo-cutscenes where you just walk and climb over obstacles and everybody talks and it makes the gameplay timer go up.

Then there was Spider-Man. I'm not expecting something on par with a Platinum hack-n-slash, but even that feels like a product of the market even with such a huge name behind it, with all its context-sensitive action cinematic sequences.

I get it, maybe Sony doesn't want a repeat of "let's show off games you'll never see until the PS4 is ready to be retired" like the past few years, but still, even some multiplats wouldn't have hurt.

There was a lack of cringe or technical fuck ups though. That's why it was dull. Pretty sure Sony had the only fuck up with their sound, and even then I think it was just the Twitch stream.

At a lot of trade events, talk shows, anywhere with a live audience, you usually have a floor guy or a teleprompter instructing people when to applaud/clap.

It makes it look more engaging, and it also keeps the crowd from clapping or cheering when you're trying to get through a speech or something.

I imagine Sony did not do that, hence the awkward silences. You could hear a fucking pin drop after the first few trailers.
