I'd argue that the gameplay beat out 1 and 2 by a lot, especially if you're on Old School, but the writing was total garbage.

You can't possibly mean that it was hyped here. It's only become OK to have a decent thread about the game over the last couple years. Personally, I think the game is the best in the series. All of them are good, but if you are trying to tell a movie level story, it doesn't get much better than that. I obviously lost on the first post.
