If that's the case, we're going to be in the eighth gen for the next decade or so, because discreet hardware and firmware updates is the in-thing to do as opposed to complete new solutions. Ironically, the Switch is more different from the Wii U at least in terms of hardware innards than the PS4 Pro and XBX is from their respective base consoles because of the switch from AMD to NVIDIA architecture.
