Well, at 49/38/28 bulk, she's arguable the all around tankiest unit in the game, which is further helped by her useful color.
With proper skills and a good boon, she's a hard counter to practically every sword unit in the game, has good matchups vs. all red mages, and can generally last a few rounds against anything in the game that isn't a green magic unit (especially with Wary Fighter, which prevents anything but a high strength unit with a hammer from ORKing her.) Slap Bonfire or Ignis on her, and she'll be able to kill most units in a single hit when it procs, and heavily damage those that don't die immediately.

QR is only a decent option on her if she's carrying DC, and even then you're just making her into a ghetto, less effective Hector.
Killer Lance is a solid choice for weapon, but Carrot is good for allowing you to stay in Wary range longer, and Gwen doesn't really need the cooldown reduction unless you're running a QR meme build.

Too bad ISIS dropped the ball with the speed score having much more weight, making healers almost useless again.

Unfortunately, no. It's an incredibly niche skill. The only way I could see it being useful is if you give it to a tanky unit to protect a mage behind them. And even then, the only type of enemy that would be able to reach the enemy would be a cavalry unit. Not to mention enemies will always attack the closest enemy to them regardless of results.

Lukas manages it really well, given he has as much defense as Zephiel (only character higher in def is Draug, by 1), but he's an infantry so double the movement to actually use a Brave Lance.

The amount every stat that is buffed with rally/hone/fortify skills is added as damage to your attack.

So a blade tome cavalry unit can get up to +24 damage boost from hone/fortify cavalry, in addition to the 6+ attack provided by hone. That's effectively +30 attack, hence why cav memes are so popular.
