FF13 was more of a FF game. It was a bad FF game imo, but FF13-2 seemed kind of fun.

Frankly the whole "multiverse of FF" thing they did in FF13-2 as well as the focus on huge scale never was why I liked FF in the first place. I liked the PS1 games for their great linear stories that made you feel like you were part of a living breathing world, mostly FF7 and FF9.

Compare FF7 and FF9 to the current shit that Squeenix puts out, it's like it's a different medium.

The drama in the story was disappointing. It shied away from a lot of the compelling political espionage and stuff and mainly focused on the 4 guys, which I guess is fine.

The real meat and potatoes of the game was the questing after you get to the second region of the game and the post game dungeons. Pretty fun stuff, was worth it.

It was a good timesink, but very mediocre game, kinda like Fallout 4.

I had such high hopes too, and it's sad.

Gets a solid 6/10 from me, and I'm glad they're even bothering to add to/improve the game. I'll definitely buy it on PC to experience it at 120fps when it's on a Steam sale.

I can't be the only one who thinks the first half was worse than the second half. The exploration was shit and there were no locations worth visiting, the sidequests and dungeons were repetitive dreck that reaped no worthwhile rewards, and the story was nonsensical the moment they made the entire Omen trailer into a long-ass cutscene.

First two thirds needed better side quest variety. Last third needed less railroading. The shit with the ring needed a better attack and needed to be an hour shorter and needed to ditch the shitty leg-grabbing QTE that got reused over and over.

Across the board, it needed more guest party members.
