Defend this.
Sorry, no can do
>>380035040
Not even the biggest nintenbros on the planet would defend this shit.
>>380035040
I don't get it
>2017
>he doesn't have a smart phone
Its literally a non-issue. Its like complaining that a t.v. controller requires batteries. Its such a common commodity at this point that 99.99% of people have it on hand unless they're poorfags or children.
>>380035373
The smartphone is not even the biggest problem here.
>>380035373
why should you need an additional device for basic functionality that your competitor had a generation ago
>>380035373
>Requiring you to buy an adapter for something as trivial as voice chat is a non-issue
And it will probably be overpriced too
>>380035040
Why do I need the middle part? Can't I just call the guy I'mplaying with if a phone is already going to be involved?
I can't defend this but I'd never use voice chat anyway so I don't care
Shame about the stupidity of this though, I'm sure they could've got around it and don't understand why they keep making those awful decisions.
>>380035627
Because you have to wear headphones and use your phone at the same time.
>>380035040
What the hell am I looking at
Everyone who uses voice chat to play Splatoon uses Discord btw. Absolutely no reason to ever buy this.
>>380035040
I... I can't!
>>380035795
Switch's voice chat solution.
>>380035040
I'm so confused. Does anyone know why you can't just talk through the game? Is some technical part missing from the Switch?
>No headphone jack on the controller so if you have it in TV mode you have to have a wire running across the room from the switch to you
The ABSOLUTE state of nintendo.
>>380036160
I guess Nintendo wants to discourage people from using voice communication. Maybe they think it is annoying
>>380035040
>it's a dongle
>it's bigger than your goddamn phone
>using in in docked mode is going to be a royal pain in the rear
>portability my ass
>you don't have any other way of playing with headphones and chatting at the same time
>well it's not like the gamepad has a headphone jack anyway
>all because Nintendo couldn't be bothered to develop a proper voice chat function
WHAT THE FUCK WERE THEY THINKING
>>380036263
holy fuck I didn't even think about this
>>380035627
The part in the middle adds the game's sound from the switch to the voice chat from the phone so you can hear them both at the same time from the headphone.
>Can't voice chat if you're playing on a couch in docked mode
>Have to wrangle around with multiple cords when Reggie said this would fix "bulky gamer headsets"
>App requires Friend codes to communicate, so you can't talk to random players, only friends
>All while forcing you to pay for Online
>>380035040
You don't need voice chat to play video games.
>>380035040
Wouldn't it just be easier, since it's friends only, to just have Skype or whatever on the phone while you're playing?
That's easier to access and doesn't have all those excess wires
>>380037117
>>App requires Friend codes to communicate, so you can't talk to random players, only friends
What the fuck really? You can't even talk to the people in the game with you? They might as well have not even done this half assed shit, it's useless.
>>380035040
>console can't even do voice chat
How does nintendo even make such a piece of shit.
Nintendo has always hated voice chat. It's one of their ways of maintaining a child friendly presentation.
If you know your kid can get into an argument with a retarded man who keeps screaming nigger on the microphone you can't claim being kid friendly. Kids themselves don't care, but some adults do. I mean last time I played GTA online I struck up a conversation with 3 ex cons who openly discussed the nature of their convictions. Nintendo doesn't want to market that.
>>380035373
Think he means the retarded adapter and meter plus of cables
not even the most retarded nintenbro could defend this piece of shit.
>>380037472
reminder
>>380037365
That's the point. The only thing this dongle does is transferring the sound from the phone to your headphones so you would be able to hear both them and the game at the same time.
>>380035040
Nope, its stupid. Let me plug my headset into the fucking controller or support Bluetooth headsets.
At first I was a bit skeptical about the whole voice chat adapter announcement but when I read through their official website, it seems like this is a way for them to try and improve voice chat and make it better.
They will have quality control, collaboration between the squids and the kids and a bunch of other procedures and guidelines.
I can't wait for the exciting new conversations that will come out from this system. Its gonna bring polish and better integration for voice chat as a whole.
I am really excited.
>>380035040
>voice chat
Fuck off.
Someone shop the drawn version of this diagram into the phone part
>>380038132
>>380035373
>>380035040
I mean, it's not really a great solution, but I can't really think of how you'd play ARMS or Splatoon 2 using any other methid, especially while docked.
I have a mixer thing for combining PS4 Pro and PC audio, so I don't mind this too much.
If it's the best thing they could come up with, it's not awful.
Desk space and more cables is the only real issue for me.
Also if it's >$20.
>>380039925
Also, it's just a mixer, right?
You probably don't have to use their phone app that will undoubtedly be subpar instead of a regular call, Skype or Discord.
If it works like I imagine you could listen to music or watch a video on your phone as well as game audio.
>>380037489
>If you know your kid can get into an argument with a retarded man who keeps screaming nigger on the microphone you can't claim being kid friendly
What is parental control?
A single stupid option to disable online interractions in the console settings would have done it.
Geez, this is beyond retarded.
>>380035040
It's a fucking mess, there's nothing to defend.
>>380039265
Wireless headset, you dumb fuck. Like what we've been using for a decade.
>>380040391
Not knowing the legal stuff at all, I'd imagine so much as having online interactions, able to be disabled or not, warrants a higher recommended age that Nintendo might fear scares away families.
The console doesn't even have an internet browser, so there's literally no way for children to see things they shouldn't be able to.
>>380035040
As a Nintendo shill, I'd rather not. But the earphones themselves look cool to me. I'm still not buying that though
