Why are games starting to look more and more similar to each other?
Is everyone using the same engines?
Is everyone going to the same art school?
Are they all just using chinks to make their games?
Are people just fucking lazy and they don't give a shit anymore?
Everything is starting to look like a 2004 korean mmorpg with horrific looking textures with over the top sound design and characters that you can't tell apart.
Even in fps games, they're all starting to look like the same pine tree forests with horrible textures and retarded looking face models.
Anyone have any insight on this? Is it because everyone is using one particular game engine?

Google physically based rendering.
It's a new hip thing in graphics. The idea is that you can make a texture look shiny and rough at the same time.
