That's pretty bizarre honestly. Partially for the fact that Nintendo would reach across the isle to do any sort of network shit considering they barely do their own network shit. But mostly because it seems like a dumb idea for Sony to just refuse to work on cross-platform network compatibility for a title like Minecraft. Maybe there were some weird licensing strings attached? Microsoft does own the Minecraft property and could probably dictate the terms of the arrangement.

Right now the only thing the PS4 has going for it is the larger user base. Yes there are exclusives, but less than 5% of PS4 owners buy those anyway. Why buy a PS4 if you can play games with your friends who have one anyway?

That's an old ass misconception from the Wii era.
The Wii U had a perfectly fine network, free and without major issues. The Switch is even better, although not free.
And unlike PSN, Nintendo's network never had a big hacker attack and never lost sensible infos.
