You better get used to paying for mods
At first I was a bit skeptical about the whole Creation Club announcement but when I read through their official website, it seems like this is a way for them to try and improve mods and make them better.
They will have quality control, collaboration between the game devs and the mod authors and a bunch of other procedures and guidelines.
I can't wait for the exciting new mods that will come out from this system. Its gonna bring polish and better integration for mods as a whole.
I am really excited.
>>380000768
Nice try, Todd.
>>380000768
Saw this in the last thread kek
>More like damage control
>>380000201
You don't have to buy them.
People will still make free mods.
>>380001041
Only amateur devs will so you'll only get the shit mods, while the paid ones are miles ahead
Fuck off shill.
>>380001298
Professionals deserve to be paid for their work.
>>380001298
and what is wrong with that?
>>380001526
I hope they pay you well for all the asses you kiss.

>>>>>>>>
Holy FUCKING shit is this post real?
Mods should be for the community to share and have fun with for free like it always has been.
adding a price to "proffesional" freelancing modding WILL cause a snowball effect.
Youll all see im sure, this is the beggining of the end i fuckin saw it coming
Can't wait to Pirate your mods just like I pirated all your fucking games.
Now go back to slaving away for me, Todd Howard. You've got games to make and I got torrents to run.
>>380002313
>Mods should be for the community to share and have fun with for free like it always has been.
And amateur modding will remain that way while exceptionally talented and skilled professionals will be able to actually earn a living from their work and therefore be more likely to produce more high quality content.
>>380000201
So the system of adding mods into the CreationClub combined with the renewed Internet Outrage will kill this right?
There's NO WAY the internet will be quiet about this.
There's no market for paid mods unless one is created artificially through DRM
>>380002841
The system is fine as is, you'll only give them more control over what they're allowed to do if you buy into this sludge, it's nothing but a downward slope from there
>>380002841
If the modding scene contain the "exceptionally talented and skilled professionals", then we should at the same time stop paying anyone working for Bethesda right ?
>>380002841
>Quality content
>Bethesda
Prediction: Bethesda will start making games even more barebones than they are now and create a glorified modding platform where they make an even bigger profit off of other people's work
You don't care about games or their future, stop fucking pretending
>>380000201
eat shit Todd
>>380000201
>nexus
>free, detailed mods
>bethesda store
>paid, shitty mods
no fuck you.
>>380000201
Yo Toddy, where were you today man?
>Todd doesn't show up so that he doesn't eat shit for paid mods and poor content conference.
>Still made fun of.
>>380000201
Todd I don't even pay for your games why would I pay for your mods.
>>380002841
This isn't going to convince anyone with a real passion for modding to become professional, anon. Only assholes grab for cash, as the last attempt at this showed.
The curation, in its early stages, will only deny people the chance to make a joke about paid mods to undermine it, thus silencing criticism directly from the market.
The possibility also exists that Bethesda could see a very good free mod like, say, SKSE, and put a price on it regardless of the author's intent. Since Bethesda would have to make sure their platform is the only one to guarantee nobody's stealing mods to put on it, SKSE's creator would have no power to stop this, aside from removing or sabotaging his own mod.
>>380002841
>exceptionally talented and skilled professionals
Modders allready get recruited into game companys and make their own company jackass.
>>380000768
>this fucking shill
>>380000768
See, that'd be all fine and dandy except that you have to pay for them
>>380000000

>>380000768
Good pasta for (yous)
LOOKS LIKE PIRACY IS BACK ON THE MENU, BOYS!
The good:
We can still pirate mods.
The bad:
The modding community will shit itself again, mod authors will probably have to take their shit down again to prevent theft because I don't trust Bethesda's control one single fucking bit. But hey, maybe they'll do what they say they'll do and free modding more or less continues without too much damage.

>>380005450
>>people used to defend paid mods on steam
95% of the posts defending paid mods have always been people shitposting for easy (you)s.
The rest are shills.
>>380005627
I fucking hope so anon
>>380000201
>still day one bugs present
>lol gibe monies
Problem with paid mods:
>People steal mods and also throw them in packs, now there is a problem with credit now that money is being thrown around
>overpriced garbage, that sword in the Steam page that was 15 bucks
If youre a mod creator and you think you should get paid for your work, make a video game. You are making content for another companies game, get over yourself. Mods in the past were passion projects, the times havent changed, if anything, modding has gotten easier. Anyone with Blender can make models, GIMP to make textures, a couple hours of research and youve made your first fallout weapon.
Paid mods are only an excuse to squeeze more money out of the consumer for an already released game and the game distributors. Donate to your favorite mod maker if youre that concerned.
Today paid mods
Tomorrow paid patches
>>380005807
It took 3 days for steam to remove paid mods because there was such an uproar. The only people I saw defending it were Valve employee's, Gabe, and the guy who made the Skyrim script editor because that fucker knows he would get big bucks since every Skyrim modder on the planet uses his mod.
>>380005975
>Today paid mods
>Tomorrow paid patches
In Bethesda's case they're one and the same
Do you think Todd likes that he's a meme?

There were plans for a fork of SKSE within hours of him announcing that. He wouldn't have made shit.
>>380000201

>>380006392
For a what
>>380005975
To be fair the first problem has been dealt with according to >>380005219
I think what they are doing is less paying for mods and more just a way to distribute jew microtransation like content. Sort of like skins in TF2 and CS:GO.
>>380006109
Weren't the SKSE guys pretty vocal that they didn't like paid mods?
>>380006521
>To be fair the first problem has been dealt with
Do you ACTUALLY believe Bethesda when they say they'll make sure only new stuff gets "not sold"?
>>380006771
Yes. I expect them to walk on eggshells a lot since this is such a controversial topic.
>>380007021
Good joke, good shill.
For them "walking on eggshells" means "let's say it's not paid mods but it's paid mods.
Looks like I'm gonna be pirating mods then. It's going to be hilarious. Modders being assblasted about people pirating their mods in which they pirated assets from other games.

Friendly reminder that console babbies will eat this shit up
>>380007134
Well, all we can do is speculate so in the end it doesn't really matter what we think.
It's either a jew way to sell shitty easy-to-make expensive 1s and 0s, or a way to monetize modding. Either way it's shit and shouldn't have been done.
I don't have to, I barely play modern games as it is, even less PC games and I wouldn't touch any bethesda game unless it's Morrowind or made earlier.
Bethesda has become a name synonymous with mediocre quality, malpractice and gross abuse of the medium.
>>380006509
>there are people on /v/ right now who don't know what a fork is in the context of software
Google it.
>>380000201
Is Bethesda the MarvelStudios of gaming?
>>380007021
>Walking on eggshells
Hardly. They have already done this once before with the same promise on Steam. It didn't end well. They knew that they would get backlash, they don't care. They know the console crowd is retarded and will let them get away with it, so they will.
>>380006634
It was either SKSE or SkyUI who were planning to go paid, and the other was heavily against it. I don't remember which.
>>380000768
Go to the watercooler and take a break, shill. Try again.
>>380000201
>even reddit hates it and shits on it everywhere
>"no wonder todd ditched this shitshow"
If even reddit hates it, then you know you fucked up.
>>380007963
I don't think they anticipated just the huge amount of backlash. Though to be fair a lot of it was only aimed at Steam and Bethesda got of relatively blame free.
>They know the console crowd is retarded and will let them get away with it, so they will.
Fair point.
>>380008043
It was SkyUI.
>>380006109
I thought SKSE did it as a protest
the point being "This is how quickly you can fuck up everything now"
/v/ is the only blue board opposed to piracy, of course they would defend this obvious cuck shit.
>>380009721
/v/ is pro piracy, that's why anti piracy shitposts get so many (you)s.
>>380004378

Are they legitimate businesses, with quality control, assured support down the line, and liability?
>>380007513
good shit lol
>>380010759
Isn't that what is going to happen?
>>380001742
>that baby pacifier
It has to be a joke
>>380011254
No. The business will still be Bethesda only. They'll also likely grab all the rights in the process.
The people at Bethesda already got paid. The modders are still hobbyists.
>>380000201
I'm glad this is happening.
I don't play Bethesda games, but /v/ is so Jewish when it comes to spending money on games. I kinda hope this stops alot of you from enjoying these games in some way. I don't like people, and I'm pretty stoked this is causing so many Jew/poorfags distress.
Serves you right for being shitters.
>>380011407
But it's gong through a QA process and collaboration with authors will be in effect, no? That's what I was lead to believe.
>>380011605
Yes. It'll go through the famous Bethesda Quality Control, which assures that all Bethesda games are released without major bugs. Totally worth it.
>>380011709
So it does have QA..
You're moving the goalpost, Anon. If you're going to make an argument, at least make a good one.
>>380011254
Have you looked at steam? The games that get put up for sale there, does it look like they have quality control of any kind there?
Shit, I won't be surprised if Bethesda decides to expand on their Creation Club and start selling games as well if this ends up being successful.
>>380000768
>bethesda
>quality control
AH HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA
You almost got me, anon.
>>380011853
That would be good for the Industry as a whole. Steam has a monopoly that's only barely competed against by Blizzard, GoG, and the Windows store. More companies should sell outside of Steam.
>>380000201
I'd gladly pay for any mods Bethesda releases!
>>380011810
It's Bethesda, they'll probably leave QA with more bugs than they entered. Also, I was under the impression we're supposed to pay for the mod, not the QA process?
>>380000768
>t. todd
>>380012137
You're a fucking idiot. There is no arguing with an idiot. Stop replying to me.
>>380012287
No.
>>380012287
You're the one expecting remotely decent QA from Bethesda, idiot.
New Vegas launched with some terrible game breaking bugs, and Bethesda was in charge of QA. Picking up the space suit in Repconn would corrupt your fucking save, that's how bad it was.
