Compared to other genres where you''ve got lots of characters on-screen whose precise movements might not be all that important, in fighters you have just two big characters on the screen duking it out. Their body language, the movement of their limbs. and other such things become incredibly important as you and the opponent have lots of different moves with varying properties at their proposal. It becomes vital that you and the opponent both intuitively tell what's going on. To that end, fighting game characters have designs that tend to accentuate the forms of their bodies.
