Here's the thing, I have no interest in buying an xbox one x as I already have a pc that can play more than enough games I need. However, that's not to say I wasn't impressed with the system, particularity it's size, I do hope heat will not be a problem. I am also glad that microsoft is making many of their games available on windows 10, so I kinda benefit as a pc gamer even if i have no interest in the xbox, so I'm glad for that. I have a One S for UHD disc playback. Unless someone offers a hell of a trade in deal for my One S it's gonna be a tough upgrade for me. I'm already playing all my multiplat games on PC with a GTX1080, I run a HDMI cable to my 4k TV. I don't think the One X will run games better then my PC. Only wild card is RDR2, if it looks dramatically better on the One X I may jump on an upgrade since at the very least PC is not getting it till a year after console launch.

PS4 Pro and XBONEX are a questionable move, probably done just to make a quick buck. They have more power, but any new games must also be capable of running on old machines, hamstringing developers. Microsoft's E3 conference was excellent this year. Anyone honest with themselves will tell you that much. I'm still gonna keep to my PS4 and not gonna get a 1X, but besides that they learned mostly everything they've been doing wrong so far in recent years and delivered a GREAT E3 show. As a PC gamer I'm pretty cool with it. I get more Microsoft exclusives and if it does well thats even better for me. Microsoft was smart enough to understand that PC gamers care little for consoles or their exclusives and since they dominate the OS market its only smart to put their games on W10. Its money for them no matter what platform a game is sold on. The Xbox has an audience its normalfags who either don't have the knowledge or desire to build a gaming PC. I don't mean that in an insulting way that's just how it is PC gaming can be a pain in the ass and some people aren't willing to deal with that. Microsoft understands that their target audience for the Xbox does not overlap with PC gamers.

The thing is for me and I would bet a lot of other PC gamers, hardware specs are not the only reason its my platform. Its the freedom I have. I like being able to choose my control scheme on a game by game basis. I like being able to fix problems with games myself or hardware issues. I like being able to choose hardware that fits my budget and build my own machine. There are a multitude of other reasons but its things consoles will never have because nowadays they are meant to be a simplified locked down PC that is easy to use.

Nor can the Xbox One X. The only 4k 60fps title is Forza which is as demanding as a PS3 game. It's would be as if Nintendo were to celebrate that last gen wii U games can run at 1080p res on current generation hardware. 99% of Xbox One X's non-indie content will be 30fps.

I'm buying it. Pro didn't sell me at all. I'm not into VR. I don't think the checkerboard rendering looks all that great. Plus I think Sony's exclusives will look fine on base PS4.

Xbox exclusives I think will be getting more of an upgrade considering the fact the base Xbox one was insanely underpowered due to the "all in one" entertainment system bs they pulled. I like Gears. The only game confirmed running in native 4K is Forza. My PC can do that with any game if I cap it at 30fps. I have serious doubts BONEX will run 2017/2018/2019 games at 4K/60fps unless they get a massive graphical downgrade. You can't outclass a 1080ti for $500. It will likely be last-gen titles that get remastered at 4K/60fps. BONEX won't play the lates Asscreed or Cyberpunk 2077 at native 4K/60fps.

The BONEX is already $300 more than the base Xbone, which is already not a very popular console. A $500 console that does nothing but play the exact same games at higher resolution appeals to an even smaller niche than the one for the Pro, which is already small. And a PC designed for gaming is only $700 minimum if you are trying to match the BONEX in performance. You can spend much less if all you care about is playing games at 1080p without maxing out settings that neither the Pro or BONEX can achieve either way. This isn't even factoring yearly online fees. There were two fantastic things that came out of the brief that everyone should be happy for; reveals for a ton of games (Metro, Light and Dark, Ori and the Blind Forest, State of Decay 2, etc.,) regardless of what platform they will release on and the inclusion of Xbox OG games in the backwards compatibility program. No one has made an emulator for the OG Xbox, so we can finally play it's exclusives at resolutions higher than 720p (if the game could even run well after it was patched for 720p.)

The issue I have is that they didn't just make it a mini PC. For the specs it's a good price, but it's still just a console. A console releasing during market saturation at that price, offering little in return for the price. People didn't buy in to the Pro, a platform that was easier to move on to than the XxBonexX, all while beating cheaper. What makes them think this will work with the only difference being native 4K? They could have just come out, mentioned its OS is W10, mention it has full, native KBM support, mention it is seeking to port over more and more PC games, creating a market for devs and publishers outside of Steam. Allow W10 cross-play, allow multiplayer on console and PC for games they can achieve that with, and you have a well priced mini PC.
