But of course they are going to because they're the popular titles, so I'm not sure I have hope even for Sony this year. Those titles just don't interest me much and I have a PS4.

I don't think you understands how E3 demos work.

They take the game and edit and change and script things for sometimes months before E3. They'll have a small portion of the team working on it. For example any Naughty Dog E3 demo, the demo is not the game. The game at that point is very very different. What the demo is, is an incredibly scripted on rails playable animation really that showcases what they're AIMING to achieve. They work on that demo till perfection so that it looks very polished and looks like a fantastic finished product to get people excited. The actual game at that point is usually a broken mess which they have to work on internally. That's just how development works. What the Days Gone demo looked like, is just like they gave less of a shit about the E3 demo and didn't put months towards it. More like they simply took a small slice, scripted a few things, and there you go. It looks a bit more representative of the current early stage of development, but less so the polish they are going for for the final release. At that point in development, things like animations and sounds are mostly placeholder. As well as many textures, models... many things. They make first versions of the assets so that they can see how they all work together. No point spending months working on polishing assets if there's a chance you won't use them in the end.

Quickly make a demo with the polished assets which take huge chunks of time. Then when the game is out and you look back to that demo from 2 years prior you think "It looks nothing like this." and that's because the game didn't ever look like that. It was a demo on which a small team spent months preparing. Meaning the end game is vastly different looking than the demos they showcase. This has been improving a little in the past couple years or so now though. Days Gone just looks like they've put 2 weeks towards the demo instead of 3 months.
